Today I have something special planned for you! Battle Chess! The 1988 MSDOS chess game that... people don't really remember anymore (it is a little bit like Harry Potter's Wizard Chess). But I love it, so I am going to talk about it! It's my channel, I do what I want! Algorithmic non-sense be darned!

I'm significantly older than you, and childhood memory unlocked! 😊 Our first computer was a Commodore 64, and I have lots of good memories sitting in front of Battle Chess. C64 actually had superior sound and graphics to the ms-dos version. Amiga and C64 were definitely ahead of their time. Next you should see if you can track down a copy of National Lampoon's Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1. Very absurd!

I played this old lego chess game that had full cutscenes for each capture ^^ lego battle chess basically, but a little more modern. I loved it. every chess match took forever <<

There's another PC chess game called Chess Wars, which plays an FMV scene every time a piece gets captured. And the amount of scenes they recorded is actually incredible, there is literally 40 minutes worth of scenes they recorded. I had a hard time getting the game to run on DOSBox myself but you can just see all the scenes on YouTube if you want. It's 40 mins of cheesy 90s FMV goodness

Man, I remember Battle Chess was all the rage back in the day. Makes me feel old.

Also, can you feature Power Chess on your channel? It was an amazing chess program built on the Wchess engine. It's difficult to play on modern machines but if we get enough support on the GOG Preservation Program, maybe CDPR will update it for modern machines.
