Thanks Captain Matt !!! Your advice has been extremely valuable. I am so glad that you shared your knowledge, experience, and videos with all of us out there shopping in the used boat market. I have been looking at used Crownline Cruisers in the Northeast Region (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, etc.) and Upper Midwest (Michigan) and have been able to use the information and your advice to sort through them and avoid getting stuck with those that have potential problems such as those where the owner did their own mechanical and maintenance work rather than a marine mechanic. . Although I could almost always find a marine mechanic, the only problem that I ran into was not being able to find a marine surveyor in some areas relatively close to where some boats were located. But, I do enjoy your videos and try to watch out for the new ones that you publish .

This is excellent advice if you want to buy a sound boat, but it is lousy advice if you want to learn about boats. To learn, you want EVERYTHING to go wrong as soon as possible, preferably at vast and horrific expense. Now you are understanding at a visceral level. Trust me, I sure know.

I looked at 12 boats (30’ range)in a 3 month period. Everyone you could tell was not maintained properly. One had old fuel lines and valves bypassed. Sparks plugs for caps. 3 or 4 had DIY vinyl flooring. Painted bilge. Ac only frig. It was crazy. All of them had water in the bilge. 13th boat was amazingly maintained.After opening one compartment in the cockpit I was sold. I immediately knew this was the boat I was looking for. Clean,maintained and dry. They are out there just have to keep searching.

Used smaller Cruiser AKA the cheapest way to get an awesome surf wake!!! plus, how many wakeboard boats have a bathroom onboard (some do, but they are not really "wakeboard boats" theyre deck boats or small cruisers with a tower, and yeah im kinda including those in this category for "used smaller cruisers")

a wakeboard boat is essentially a deep vee cruiser/fishing boat hull shape with a different deck on the top.

There are really nice deals on beneteau. Thinking gt36 or Antares 11 but i am concerned about fit and finish. It seems like a regal 36 or 38 while more expensive seems higher quality. Thoughts on that?

How about a used diesel trawler in the 36-44 foot size for live aboard and cruising year round on the west coast and into Mexico? Would a survey show that everything is operational prior to buying?
