My wife and I have decided to invest in a first boat….we have weighed all our pros/cons and feel it is the right time for us to start a new adventure in our lives….looking at open bow riders for our local big lakes here in Indiana. We have never “owned” a boat but I have spent a lot of time on boats in my past. I just wanted to thank you for all the info and the Checklist is amazing!!! Truly appreciate this vid and will update you on what we get and how it goes soon!!!!
Thanks again!!! Keep up the great vids….earned a sub here!!!!

The hammer you need to tap on the boat hull with is call a phenolic hammer aka double side soft face hammer. If the owner will not let you tap on the hull, walk away. A phenolic hammer will not damage the hull at all tapping on it.

Great info delivered well. Thanks

This video is so helpful, even with estimated repair costs! The download is also super helpful as there is too much information to remember everything. Excellent resource; I'm watching it for the second time now right before I leave to inspect a boat!

I found a 1985 Hydra Sport that has been setting around for a few years. The owner had to stop boating due to health condition. Your content has been essential to this process. Thank you.

Excellent tips on what to look for when buying a used boat. Your videos are always so informative, thank you, always learn something new watching your content 👏😊

I like that walk around 😍 then again it's a Grady White what's not to like😂. I bought a Bayliner😂. Yeah I know I know. I did a little homework and went and looked at used Trophy models. I knew what to look for when I went to inspect it and exactly how to quickly get to the under deck and look for damage. I found out other issues with the boats design as  I've owned it. The Trophy edition offers a thicker hull and some decent fishing accommodations. Mine is a 98 so I had to really inspect the stringers. I expected to find seriously bad fiberglass work but found the stringers to be wrapped completely in relatively fresh smooth looking fiberglass and they are solid. I modified the Bilge system and added a extra bilge pump. I have replaced most of the cheap stuff on the boat and replaced it with good quality accessories. It's an empty canvas I have been adding to. It rides well and at 19' and a CC it's got a pretty shallow draft but handles decent in the intercoastal or in shore. I spend more time in lakes with it though. They say Bayliner used wood back then. They did but only in the stringers and mounts for the deck to the hull. The connectors for the deck are under the CC and protected from water intrusion from above and you'd have to sink the boat to get the water level as high up as they are mounted. If the stringers are like mine you're golden if you take care of your boat. The transom does have wood as well so makes sure that's solid. Other than that it's easy to work on easy to maintain and anyone can get really good at gelcoat repairs if they just try. I'm boating in style for cheap 😎 it's break out another $100 not thousand for me. My cheap Bayliner is better looking better equipped and holds it's own as well as anything I've found out there in it's class. Do your homework their are decent boats in every make. Don't just rule out a make because of a bad reputation.

Andres, great video! Well explained and put together! 👏🏽

That was an excellent video. Especially helps to see so many examples on different boats in various conditions. Thank you!
