I honestly believe the scene where the Doctor and Donna meet again and have that conversation mouthing to each other between two windows, is probably the best scene in all of Who. Because we don't hear either of them say a word, but we can still understand the entire conversation, and it's hilarious. That is some quality acting, writing and directing.
I think there's something to be said for how Donna had only 1 season, Catherine Tate wasn't even really a fan of Doctor Who, and yet her and Tennant's chemistry carried so hard that we remember every single one of their episodes like she's the only companion in the show. Honestly an icon.
I think you missed two really great ones in “The Doctors Wife”
DOCTOR: (Grabbing her hand to run) “Sorry. Do you have a name?” TARDIS: “700 years. Finally he asks.” DOCTOR: “But what do I call you?” TARDIS: “I think you call me…Sexy.” DOCTOR: (embarrassed) “Only when we’re alone.” TARDIS: “We are alone.” DOCTOR: “Oh. Come on then…Sexy”
DOCTOR: “Amy, this is…well…she’s my Tardis...Except she’s a woman. Well she’s a woman…and…she’s my Tardis.” AMY: “She’s the Tardis?” DOCTOR: (Excited) “And she’s a woman. She’s a woman…and she’s the Tardis.” (touches the Tardis’ face) AMY: “Did you wish REALLY hard?” DOCTOR: (embarrassed) “Shut up. Not like that.” TARDIS: “Hello. I’m…Sexy.” DOCTOR: (looks at. Tardis then back at Amy pointing at her) “Ohhhh…Still… shut up.”
And Wilf in “The End of Time” always cracks me up.
“The End of Time” (Wilfred Mott enters the Tardis. Looks around in awe) DOCTOR: “Ahhh right. Yes. Bigger on the inside…Do you like it?” WILF: “I…I thought it would be cleaner.” DOCTOR: “Cleaner?! I could take you back home right now!”
22:16 I love how genuinely impressed Rose is by this. Like, “woah wait, seriously? Okay forget everything we were just talking about I need to hear this story NOW!”
Honestly, for Rose to see the end of her world, the end of humanity, and hear about the end of the Time Lords, and want some chips is actually beautiful. Life is short, everything has an end, so seize the day.
The way Miss Foster just stares at The Doctor and Donna in a total neutral expression, makes me laugh, and you can see her hidden amusement on her face.
The Doctor: alright, I’m David Tennent now, so I do not care if you shoot her
