GOT THIS FEELING IN MY BONES

Jason with a full hex build is the closest thing we’ll get to Mr. Bones’s Wild Ride.

One of the problems I have with running hexes is how they affect survivors much differently based on knowledge and coordination. Knowledgeable survivors and SWFs cleanse totems quicker, but these are the survivors I most need perks and gen regression to kill

Bhvr: We heard you loud and clear! In order to streamline the Killer Experience and avoid any hand-holding, we have removed all hex perks. Totems can now only used for boon perks. Have fun! :)

I hate how some Hex Perks have just such specific activation requirement without really much strength to them. Like "Jump on one leg, recite the whole perks description in reverse but in latin, then offer your firstborn to light a dull totem. As long as the totem is lit all survivors now breath 5% louder for 10 seconds after becoming exhausted", sure that is an exaggeration but that's to me how a few hex perks lately feel like.

Not to mention the few cases when the match starts and before I could even take a step my first hex is already cleansed.....like come on BHVR give us something like Corrupt Intervention but for Hex Perks.

Best intro to a DBD video EVER. Hyping this video. Props for Treasure Planet.

Fun fact, due to Two Can Play's activation requirements it can actually relight after being cleansed if the Killer is stunned/blinded two times. Doesn't really make it much better... but it's pretty neat!

I'm old enough to remember pre-nerf Undying. Played a match with a Ruin Undying Blight on Saloon. It wasn't easy to get outs against that.

We love Hex Ed!

I do take issue with how awful the totem spawns are right now. They've removed countless totem locations that were hidden on tiles and replaced them with new locations that are flat out in the open. Those spawn locations for hexes often provided totem protection by default instead of needing to depend on the defensive hexes. Dead Dawg and Midwich used to have the best totem spawns for the most part and it was a cool challenge back then to learn the totem spawns and spawn logic to figure out how to dismantle the killer's perks way faster than your average match. I also take issue with the specific maps that have a guaranteed totem spawn location like RPD Stars office, Dead Dawg windmill, or Ormond hill tiles especially with how poorly concealed the totems are now because it's easy to suss out multiple totem spawns based on the location of one and it makes the action of totem hunting less dynamic. It has definitely kept me away from using hexes. A couple nights ago, I experimented by using Ruin on Pinhead because I thought chain hunts would help defend it but every game I tried to use it, it got cleansed no later than 4 gens. It just wasn't worth the perk slot.

Fun Fact! Huntress Lullaby was going to only cause skill checks to regress more when failed when within your terror radius. So yes it would be even more worthless than it is.
You can see this if you looks at the Lullaby of the Dark steam page

7:47 what your snakes name? theyre so pretty!

Someday.... someone will claim the $440 USD bounty I have on the Devour challenge, to get a mori on every killer in a row with Devour Hope ):

$420 if you don't have Myers/Cenobite :D

That intro alone made me watch the entire video. One of your best ones yet, Pixel!

1:27 fr had a ghost face today that had all hexes we found them all the moment he got his first hook he got zero value from them and we 4 outed

I got a few issues with Hex perks. I just wanna get them off my chest.

—Why does Scared to Death and Nothing but Misery have such crazy activation requirements, while Ruin and Blood Favour have no activation requirements?

—Why haven’t we had any other trap hex perks since Haunted Ground? I can’t think of a single other trap hex!

Nice video, does a great job explaining why I generally don't like Hex perks both as a Killer & Survivor.

During Jason release, it was pretty obvious how well he can use a Hex build thanks to his "omnipresent evil" and  tried a dedicated Hex build for the first time. Hex Ruin was obviously quite effective, but I quickly got bored of using it after a couple of days.

I started looking at all the other hex perks I could consider running/trying out and even though "Hex Scared to Death" was obviously a dud because it has a ridiculous setup requirement and needs Thrill so it doesn't immediately get cleansed the moment you get your first 3 different hooks. The results were "interesting" , on paper it's a pretty cool perk.

I really enjoy using it on survivors who typically relied on repeatedly Pallet Drop + Flashlight blind you during a chase and would give them the "first one free" so they will feel confident/safe doing it throughout the match against me. Only for once the Hex is activate to punish them as I'm breaking pallet, their attempt to blind me is interrupted by the scream and since they are hinder, gives me a free easy M1 injured/down on them by the surprised factor. [Some survivors that are quick on the flashlight blind, could blind me before the scream interrupted them, but man was it fun really giving them a "OH SHIT" moment when it worked.

Now I guess you may asked why I even gave the perk a try? Well its because I already like using "No Way Out" a ton, so the setup requirement of individual hooks isn't all too new for me. So I ran Hex Thrill of the Hunt, Scared to Death + Face the Darkness (since the thought of having the survivors consistently scream a ton throughout the whole match as Jason was really fun) with No Way Out, since I usually just 8Hook all the survivors when I don't have a challenge/quest to kill them.

Also with how many other Jasons ran Hex Ruin instead, im sure the "lack" of immediately Hex perks being activated from the start really got the survivors even more nervous on what kind of Jason build they were dealing with.

But also since people were facing so many Jason Hex builds, having to also face a handful of Counterforce survivors did ruin the fun every once in a while.

Finally in conclusion, Hex Scared to Death, is unfortunately a dud, but at least a pretty cool one that I can see if it ever was properly buff would be very annoying to face against which supports your argument in the video of how Hex perks are just barely balanced because of how just a small change or a new killer being added could easily make or break it.

Meanwhile Hex Face to Darkness was so much fun and is now my favorite Hex Perk in the game. I fully agree that more Hex Perks should take more design inspiration from it. Maybe create a new category that is between Payload & Punishment Hex perks.

Hex Perks that have a activation condition to light up a Dull Totem, and should it be cleanse before it deactivates, then if you successfully fulfill the activation requirements again it just relits on another Dull Totem. That way these Hex Perks give temporary buffs, and can be cleanse temporary by survivors to force the Killer to reactive them or forces Survivors to cleanse all Dull Totems to completely prevent it from being relit. Finally allowing these Hex perks to not require a full dedicated Hex build just so you can get actual value throughout the match without it being cleanse in the first 2m by a survivor because of poor Hex spawn would be nice.

Just my thoughts on the video subject.

Something some people forget. Original Devour Hope gave survivors a debuff at two tokens which meant you were running rank two Devour as to avoid debuffing survivors and tipping your hand before 3 tokens.
