In today’s episode, we started our morning by preparing tea and bread baked in hot sand, which we shared with our family. Later, we prepared dinner before heading to a special traditional Pokot community event called Lopekrep.
Lopekrep is a community gathering where people come together to contribute money to a couple after their traditional wedding. People contribute different amounts, from $8 to $1,000, while others sell cows, sheep, goats, and chickens to raise money for the newlyweds.
Today was preparation day! The community gathered to clean the event ground, set up the music equipment, and prepare for the big celebration. Children danced to the music as the community came together to spread the word about the upcoming event.
Join us as we share this beautiful tradition that celebrates marriage, generosity, unity, and the spirit of giving in our African village.
