My absolute favourite when I was a kid.  The local bakery used raspberry jam.

Absolutely adore neenish tarts.

You always make me smile n giggles, we are blessed to have you make these videos n delicious foods 😊

Asked hubby to guess what you were making in this video and only clue I gave him was we buy them from our local bakery. He instantly said Neenish Tart and when I said yep, he asked when I’d be making them. Looks like this will be how I spend my Saturday and I can’t wait. Thanks for showing us how they’re made and thanks to those who requested you make them.

My parents had them every wedding anniversary because they had them on their honeymoon at Marysville Vic. Thanks for the memory ❤

Yes Aussie Classic, they were everywhere in the 1970's so popular with children, they were in School Tuckshop, and at every Bakery shop , and childrens ' Birthday Party. So good Mel that you have revived them  it was so typical of our Australian Culture, we must keep it alive with your Aussie Clasic Recipies you always make.

I really appreciate your showing us how to make Neenish tarts. ❤

I am sitting with my 11year old great niece who said. I bet you really like watching Mel because she said icing not frosting. Very true🤣then followed is she true blue and I just smiled 😊

You're not going to believe this. The supposed birthplace of the Neenish Tart is Grong Grong. Grong Grong is in the middle of nowhere, in regional N.S.W. As the crow flies, it's about 30 k's from my place. I do love me a Neenish tart, every so often. Great video.

They were my late sisters favourite. Thanks for the memory ❤

Mel, very impressive I haven't had one of these in years. Each time I watch, you put a huge smile on my face, thank you for being a highlight of my week. Have a great weekend.

I grew up in Beverly Hills, SW Sydney. We had one of the best bakeries run by a lovely family of Anglo-Saxon Aussies, baking recipes Aussies did best. My favourite treat was a Neenish tart. However, if it was something for an afternoon tea get together, a Chelsey bun with lots of butter & a cuppa always won the day. May I suggest to try baking a Chelsey bun. I absolutely love your style, timing & joyful Aussie expression - a perfectly relaxing way to watch, learn & have some fun. Wonderful stuff Mel. Thanks from Sydney. P.S. Size & finish of the Neenish tarts looks exactly as I recall from the 1960's.

I love Neenish Tarts. They look great!

We love watching your videos, you are a down to earth cook and so calm all the time. You sure are cooking a lot of old dishes that we used to have as a child and have forgotten about. Thank you so much for all your beautiful cooking. 😍👨‍🍳🌹🇦🇺🇦🇺

Kiwi here, my sister always got a Neenish tart but I never had one - I was a lamington boy! Actually never even checked what was in a neenish tart!
