Look on the bright side, now hold the official speed record for someone with no licenses!

This made me super sad, Matt.

well on the bright side your life expectancy just increased

A very mature response to a disappointing experience

"Hey, that guy and his car on the front of our SCTA calendar for 2026/2027, we revoked his licenses!!!"

SuperFastMatt built a land speed car and became TooFastMatt

time to finish the electric jag

I would have thought that littering the track with keychains would have been a larger offence than going too fast because of a faulty sensor.
Are you going to change the calculated speed from an average to whichever the max value sensor reads? Actually how are you going to fix that, because I guess wheel spin could mess up the telemetry

Glad they reconsidered, that felt like an extremely harsh punishment given your data.

For several years I was part of a large team who raced at Bonneville. I hear stories like this fairly often and tech being hard on new guys trying to get into the sport. It isn't like it is a huge sport and if the board makes it harder than necessary how can they expect it keep going? Me and a lot of the people who race are...ahem..."older" so they need to get some younger guys involved to keep it alive. Just my opinion of course.

Man that sucks, not just the licences, but the unknown sensor averaging issue isn't something I'd have ever considered as an option to have before now. Not surprised they were... lets call it 'unhappy' with 100 over target. At least they reinstated some licences, and it's not a 1 year ban, 'just' end of season. But the cars clearly working so it could have been so much more.
Got my key chain too, and it's done 300 so theres that. Kudos on the donation, worthy cause for sure

I wonder how many other people get " yelled at " to varying degrees.  Not having the turnouts marked is a HUGE safety hazard and whomever don't mark the course needs to be spoken to regardless of the of the other issues Matt had.

That seems like an excessive penalty.  You had a reasonable explanation.  3 Licenses is better than all, but still.  Seems like they are hurting the events as a whole as it is terribly expensive not to mention time consuming as you mentioned.  The next group of folks who will race one day at the flats might see this as a group who only cares about rules and penalties rather than the intent of the rules.  But glad you got through it, have data, and can build it better.  Semper Anticus!

time to make the worlds saddest ham sandwich

Super Naughty Matt went a bit too Super Fast.

Littering the track(because of a floor failure) is a real and legitimate safety problem that needs to be dealt with, and requiring two slower runs is very justifiable to make sure that your floor can keep it together this time.

Neglecting to tell you that until you're actually at the next event is...... less justifiable. Why could that not have been communicated more than like 18 hours in advance?

Going over the limited speed(by a lot) is bad, but it's also not a huge safety issue like the keychains were. Their imposed penalty doesn't seem totally excessive if you had been prepared to make a limited speed run. But they totally neglected to inform you of this extra requirement, and so you end up unprepared with the predictable result.

The penalty wouldn't seem unfair if it wasn't coming from the same organization that failed to tell you about the last penalty and also didn't bother marking any turnouts.

I appreciate honesty and accountability. Good for u on being a good person over a bad YouTuber.

Revoking ALL of your licences is insane

So i wasn't the only one who had a meeting with the board!
It was good seeing you in line. Hope to see you next year.

Ultimate bummer followed by reduced bummer... is still a bummer.
