Couple of notes: This video was not sponsored by SendCutSend. I just wanted to make a video and talk about what they are doing because I think it’s awesome.
About the Sour Patch Kids: SCS adds Sour Patch Kids or Sour Punch Twists to every order, and they have lots of orders, which is why they are the largest purchaser in Nevada. I probably should have clarified that…

SendCutSend's software that takes files and instantly converts them to a quote is the keystone of the company.

if private equity ruins scs, the first sign will prolly be the sourpatches being removed.

Like they say, the only thing better than owning a boat is having a friend who owns a boat.

I sure hope the VC funding doesn't ruin SendCutSend like other private equity investment ruins companies

Private equity in sendcutsend? Welp, start the countdown on the enshittification clock.

I have a cnc shop in my garage for this same reason. I graduated engineering school and finally had time for projects. I sent out for quotes to a bunch of shops for a small prototype part and no one would quote me or they added a few too many extra 0s of the price. Now I run a 1 man cnc shop as my full time gig. I have never even had to look for work. Every company acts like Im saving their family dog by rush machining the parts for them.

p.s. I love SendCutSend and the wife loves the free candy with every order!

Much like send cut send is a software company pretending to be a metal processing company, you are a writer and narrator masquerading as a car builder. I mean that as a compliment. For as awesome as your car building content is, I realized while watching this video that it’s your way with words that takes your content to the next level

6:53 "Somebody else's laser cutter is way better." Truer words were never spoken. Kinda like a friend's pool is better than owning a pool.

A good thing can never exist for too long without private equity stepping in to ruin it for thousands, to benefit just a handful of suits.

Everything Matt says in this video is true.  I work for one of the largest fabricators in the US.  We don't take on small jobs from people off the street as we're simply not setup to do so.  We have more capability than SCS (for now, at least) but the prices I've seen from SCS are incredibly low for small quantities.

We need a European SendCutSend!

7:50 ok it's a bit concerning they're getting VC funding now - if they've got successful by being bootstrapped and relying on their reputation to survive, that can go out the window if they're now beholden to give short-term repayments to VC backers.

Found out about them through this channel, decided to make some titanium engine mounts. Taught myself freecad in a weekend (on a basic level) and had them make them for me, 4 days after pressing pay they were at my door. Pretty damn cool.

"You just have to want peoples business."  That's crazy talk... /s

I had to work with a local metal shop at my last job, and my god it was like pulling teeth. The youngest worker there was like 45, and they had a habit of going home at 2 PM on Thursday and Friday, so just reaching someone was a chore. They didn't really seem to care about cultivating new customer relationships, and were frankly just coasting on old contracts. I can see that SendCutSend is raising the bar for American metal fabrication, so hopefully the other shops will follow suit to stay competitive.

"You can actually exchange money for goods and services. Amazing."

I felt this on a visceral level.

It's basically War Dogs where they realized you can make a lot of money vacuuming up the crumbs.  Enough crumbs becomes the pie.

SCS gets an insane amount of hype on the internet, and unlike most things that get hype on the internet they completely deserve it. They really do enable so many people at home to build random cool stuff. I found them from your videos as well as other YouTube creators, and i introduced my office to them and now they have become a key supplier/vendor for us. Their prices and lead times are so good. the sour patch kids are a fun touch, as are the stickers

Send-Cut-Send and Protolabs are the backbone of American hardware infrastructure. A lot of the US metal and fab shops couldn’t even sign NDAs as turns out they were sending everything to China themselves and then just charging a premium, I am so happy all those businesses don’t have a reason to exist any more.
