His performance in The Wrestler was amazing. Would've been great to have seen him in Pulp Fiction.

Everyone in the world can love you, but it means NOTHING if you don't love yourself.

He was called a modern James Dean, the next Marlon Brando..he was that good.

Used to get him confused with Bruce Willis when I was younger 😅 They really should have played brothers in a movie or play, True West or something.

Much of the plastic surgery was due to him being nuts.

The Wrestler is one of my favorite sad boy movies. He really acted his ass off in that movie.

His role in Bullet was amazing tbh.

Don’t hate Harley and the Marlboro man , that’s a favorite of mine

He may be crazy but he's got talent and smarts

Should’ve won the Oscar for The Wrestler. Hollywood and the Oscars suck!

huge looking over Iron Man 2 as it's villain. biggest major movie he's EVER been in. Not his finest hour but it made a wack ton of cash!

Mel Gibson talked about head trauma can cause massive PTSD and emotional anger problems. Brain scan doctors figured that out about football players and boxers. With Rourks horrible upbringing from his single mom and her abusive boyfriend and his boxing caused his problems in life.

A lesser known movie he was in called The Last Outlaw(1993). It was a HBO TV movie and it was really good and he was excellent in it. Great cast too.

A great actor indeed, I reckon that all those head blows in his boxing days definitely affected and clouded his judgement.
Wish him all the best.

The first time I saw Pulp Fiction I KNEW, without being told, that Butch was written for Mickey.

My last front-of-the-house restaurant job was at a Marie Callender's in West LA. It was a small, innocuous, little joint and the worst table in the place was a tiny two-top to which the restaurant's hostess had escorted two eccentric-looking gentlemen one afternoon.

Not sure what the hostess was thinking because the table was just too small for the men. But, not only did they not complain, there was actually a level of enthusiasm between the men that suggested their lunch was a reunion of sorts.

They both ordered chicken pot pies and at some point, a murmuring amongst the staff had begun. Apparently, one of the gentlemen was Micky Rourke. A quick look, and with squinted eyes, I finally recognized that it was indeed Mickey Rourke himself.

I'd studied acting for a decade and went down his rabbit hole of films at one point, and for such royalty to humbly sit at that table was surreal. Especially, when you see occasional videos of drunken celebrities in handcuffs yelling, "Do you know who I am?!" Like they're gods or something. Whatever.

That day I actually saw a god, trying to blend in, eating a chicken pot pie like he's some mere mortal like the rest of us. But nah, he didn't fool me. I saw Motorcycle Boy. I saw Randy "The Ram". I saw Marv, Hank Chinaski, P.I. Harry Angel and more and we could've given him a table for eight that afternoon and it still would've been too small.

Something tells me he didn’t do three straight to dvd movies before DVDs existed.

rourke has been destroying his career for his entire career.

I think his comeback started with Spun.  That character was really good.  Great setuo for the Wrestler.

My favorite actor of all time.
