Double Crash And Burn - The Mickey Rourke Story
The Critical Drinker

This one really is a special case - a man who crashed and burned not once, but twice in his career. From 80s heart throb to 90's burnout, the miraculous career resurrection of the 2000s to his ultimate fate as a homeless, broke old man, the story of Mickey Rourke truly is a wild ride.

I worked with a guy who worked on “the wrestler” with Rouke. He described him as very professional but tortured. When he asked Rouke if he planned to watch “the wrestler.” Rouke response was “No. It reminds me of my life too much.”

Young Mickey Rourke and older Mickey Rourke look like two different people to me.

His life and regret is exactly why he played haunted characters so well. Art imitates life

The real tragedy was Sean Penn winning the Oscar for Milk. The Wrester was, is and remains one of the greatest sports movies of all time.

As someone who was affected by divorced parents, empty promises and anger on both sides, I sympathize with Mickey Rourke's childhood.
I liked Mickey and didn't want him to crash and burn.

He looked like he started morphing into an aging Val Kilmer there at the end

Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man was one of my favorites when I was a teenager! Call it a guilty pleasure!

I hate the idea that Mickey could very well die homeless in a Los Angeles alley.

I ran into Mr. Rourke in Santa Fe at The Boxcar one time. Talked to him for an hour. He was chill. I think he's just a little broken, and likes to be treated like a human, not an image.
