LOSING MY MIND AT KURSK | Germany Finale | Gates of Hell: Ostfront

:( well those weren't as fun as the first two. I'm holding out hope for the Russian missions, but the campaign had a serious problem of too few missions with not enough variety. 2 of the 5 missions were defence, while the stealth one was bad stealth and then a defence. Mission 4 I got into detail on but thankfully Mission 1 was fun. It was pretty simple though, a basic warmup to what should have been more detailing.

"I guess we have the town.....NOW WE HAVE TO DEFEND IT? ARE YOU SHITTING ME?"

- Some poor German officer after receiving orders from HQ during the battle of Kursk.

Of course Germans can’t throw up, they train to resist that in Octoberfest

You would have thought years of playing Arma had prepared Rimmy to a strategy game where your troops don't do what you tell them to and die in stupid ways.

Iron Cross to Max Schultz for capturing the 11 solo, striking a sentry with the butt of his gun and eliminating the rest of the guards with speed worthy of Blitzkrieg.

"Huh, there's no fog of war?"

This proved to be an omen.

German Soldier: “we were able to perfectly execute all of our objectives sir and we successfully retreated when it appear the enemy were about to overrun us.”

German officer: “and how many casualties did we sustain during this mission?”

Soldier: “a single aircraft and its pilot sir”

Officer: “then it was a heartbreaking defeat.”

Losing your mind at kursk I feel like that's what the Germans were feeling

Actually, kursk german mission was a bit worse then you think. In editor, the tanks show as set for "return fire". They don't support you unless they are shot at. And as you experienced, suck at saving themselves.

Kind of wanna see a fustercluck of kursk now. Imagine giving Digby control of the tanks and telling him to be woefully unhelpful.

"So much for early access."
Operation Barbarossa summed up in 5 words...

I lauged so hard when rimmy yell at the sturmtiger for shooting at only one russian soldier whit a ppsh 41
I imagine that on the real life: a commander is watching how the soviet soldiers retreats, when a big boom happens near that soviet soldier running away, and after the commander turns to see who did that, see the smoke coming out of the gun of the sturmtiger, and walks into the crew and shout at them every bad word possible

Looks at video name, realizes he’s playing on the German side,

Seems historically accurate.

Oh man... Rimmy... probably should go co-op for the Russian campaign. That way if you have to suffer again... you won't suffer alone. ;)

"Germans are physically incapable of throwing up." Well, not physically impossible, we just tend to have very strong stomachs.

German army: please nerf soviets, they're hurting the Meta

Ya know i get the feeling why they did not want these missions showed off before the embargo lifted..... and since they rushed the release we all get to see the mission in all its buggy/broken glory

The two guys behind the burning stuG be like:

“Hans, what should we tell the commandant?”
“Don’t say shit johan, NOTHING!”

@BurningFyre 5 years ago

"You cant place mines IN a house, right?"

Soviet scorched earth laughter

@darrellhancock2862 5 years ago

To be fair, it sounds like almost all the problems with Kursk could be fixed by giving the player the tanks as mission-critical units. The rest is bugs, and mission length (which could arguably be a design choice).

@jamesmortimer4016 5 years ago

Kursk´s manpower and casualty ratio can be explained quite simply. The soviets were spread out between a total of 6 defensive lines, the germans got to focus their firepower.
