This was obviously a lovely piece of furniture to start with, but I didn’t realise how stunning it was until you added your magic David. The wood grain in the veneer is positively nature at its best. The piece has been put together originally by a master craftsman and now it’s just been restored by another master. Your perseverance in getting it right, almost perfect in fact, stands testimony to your integrity and expertise in your field. I know you are far too modest to say anything like this about yourself, but believe it David, you are incredible at doing the right thing with furniture. I love watching your videos, could watch them every day, but I know your life is too busy for that kind of commitment to YouTube. I’ve missed your posts and was starting to suffer from withdrawal symptoms again. I was so delighted to see Mayfield Restorations on my feed. It’s not just that you are very good at what you do, I love watching Daisy (maybe not when she’s having a poo) too, and just listening to what you have to say. You are a lovely person and it shines through in your videos. Thank you for sharing this today, it cheered up my miserable weekend. Hope you have a great week ahead and hugs to beautiful Daisy.  xxxx

Wow David. What an incredible transformation, you breathed life into this piece & the wood grain is unbelievably stunning after your restoration. Your craftsmanship is amazing & your attention to detail should be commended. Also …. Daisy’s taps and frustrated whine for you to hurry up and throw her cork made me laugh. 🤭 I’m usually a silent follower but have watched nearly every single video you’ve done! best wishes from the Lake District xx

I do like this small bureau especially now that you have woven your usual magic...the white drawer-pulls look identical but do seem out of place...perhaps rosewood timber would be more appropriate?...brass would be a tad commonplace...

Nice work, great that you add any mistakes you make.

I love this video outside in your yard with the birds and wind.  I definitely prefer that to the music.  I also appreciate that you explain what you are doing and how you walk us through the piece before you start.  Great job!!

What a beautiful desk. You really did a wonderful job. Kudos!
Daisy is fun to watch. She looks like such a sweet girl.

Wonderful work. I love the fact that you admitted you made a mistake with what we call denatured alcohol. It saves me from doing the same when I find a more challenging piece than the ones I did with my Dad. I really enjoyed your commentary; so many just do the work and leave you guessing as to what they are doing and how they got the spare materials or using for chemicals that strip finish with ease. Time is of no importance to me if I am learning something useful and you have taught me a great deal and without all the high tech tools that sponsor's of other channels receive. Your customer will be overwhelmed when they see what a beautiful piece of furniture it once was and now is again.

I was lucky enough for someone across the street to leave one of these on the pavement. It's not identical for pretty close. After watching this video I've decided I'm having a go at restoring it. The only thing missing is one of the long brackets that pulls the supports in and out for the bureau front for when it is being user as a writing desk. Think I know the answer as it was made around the 1940's by looks of it. But is there anything I can buy to replace it? Thanks again this is really helpful. Also no key for the the lock.

Great work! What stripper do you use?

Noooooo!
David, you ruined another beautiful piece of furniture. 😢

it turned out beautifully your craftsmanship is outstanding

Out did yourself again!!! Beautiful and modern and useful once again! And not in the landfill!

Amazing job!  As a 20 year plus woodworker, I just bought my first vintage piece of furniture to repair/fix up and it is the exact same design as yours, with different veneer species, mahogany I believe.  So your video has provided much help and inspiration towards fixing repairing mine.  Thanks heaps.

Those pulls!!! I love them.

Wow good job.

Am I the only one who coughs when he is scraping finish off and the dust is flying all over?  Lol

You did a really amazing job, I’m well impressed!
How do you price this type of work?

It looks quite stunning! Beautiful restoration.
