Speckled trout fishing in Lake Borgne and the Rigolets, Louisiana! This Video was filmed on Sept. 29, 2026. We're targeting specks with two proven setups: a popping cork with a soft plastic and a drop shot rig. We break down which one wins and why.

In this inshore fishing video, we cover how to find speckled trout around the Rigolets passes, oyster reefs, and Lake Borgne shorelines, how tide and current movement change the bite, and how to set your cork depth and leader length. We also cover drop shot rigging for trout holding tight to the bottom, the best soft plastic colors for clear and off-color water, and how to work the cork so it draws strikes.

Whether you fish out of a kayak, skiff, or bay boat, these tactics apply from the Louisiana marsh to the Gulf Coast. If you're hunting for a limit of keeper specks near New Orleans, this is a good one to watch.
