Watching in 2026, just discovered your channel and can’t believe what the algorithm had been keeping out of my sight for 5 years. Love your fm2/f3 trilogy and can’t wait to watch your leica videos.

This is one of the most expert and thoughtful reviews I've ever watched... on any subject. Thank you. I'm going to offer one point of view different to you however - I am left eye dominant. So it is better for me that the shutter advance lever is positioned in, rather than out, when shooting. Yes, that means I have to take the camera away from my eye to advance, but it means I shoot comfortably. (In fact, this cocked lever position requirement is the only reason I didn't buy an FM3A). So, for me, that would be #8 for the F3. And #9 - as an eyeglasses wearer - is the optional HP finder. The F3 is a masterpiece. Thanks for sharing this video. I'm now going to like and subscribe.

Here it is 2024 and I just won an auction for a F3 and a FM2.  And I can't wait to get my hands on them.

I have both and basically using the F3 is a delight, it's a magical feeling. It's a piece of historical technology, built to last for years and years and to be durable, despite being electronic. If you want a piece of history with a unique design but that may one day stop working, the F3 is for you. If you want a machine that will outlive you, the FM2 is for you.

Excellent video. Exactly what I was looking for in a video as I consider a film camera. Details on the gear and gorgeous photos! Love your soundtrack too by the way.

Took a bit to get used to the F3, the 80-20 metering, compared to the 60-40 of my old Nikkormat I used for  decades. I was a bit slow on getting used to exposure compensation, as I did it manually, and exposure lock also.  Now, I have developed a real affinity for the F3… though I still often take the FM2n out for leisurely photo walks, especially when the light is good in the late afternoons… the golden hour.  The F3 is unforgiving on mistakes, due to its precision, but we learn more from our mistakes than our successes.  F3 was and is a fine teacher.

You are truly a wonderful YouTuber, and everything about your videos is good...the information, music, intro, and photography. : )

    My first camera was a Nikon F2 and the F3 was my second. I have tremendous respect and appreciation  for Nikon’s level of technical expertise and innovation in creating the F3 user experience. I’ve had mine since the 90’s. It’s an absolute jewel.
    I have been shooting Nikon mirrorless for a few years. Recently though (now 2024), the current resurgence of 35mm film photography brought me to take my F3 out of retirement. It is in perfect shape - still works flawlessly and looks like new. For me handling and using the F3 is a sensuous tactile and fully engaging experience. Just looking at my F3 makes me smile!
    It is always so nice to listen to others, like yourself, who recognize and appreciate the beauty and joy of using things made with great care – and made to last. Thank you.

It's been a while, I thought about it for a long time, but now I've finally bought an F3 for my FM2n. I just love the look and feel of it, and I'm now also the proud owner of a Nikon Zf.👌 What's more, the old Nikon lenses are excellent quality in every respect.

I have an F3 and again I learned something from your video. I was thinking there was a problem with the meter but your video cleared up my problem by advancing the film to 1. Thank you again for showing me something I didn’t know and solving a problem that wasn’t really there.

Yes, it's unbelievable how under priced Nikon F3's are in comparison to other makes like the Canon AE-1. I have owned both, still have the F3 and will never part with it.
