Who remembers James from Commando on the frontline?

@robrohu6099 1 year ago

I watched the documentary in my early 20s ....I am now in my mid 30s.

Seeing James now is actually surreal!

Great content!

Bloody hell mate, it was due to that programme that I started my training at ctc in 2008, wow nostalgia overload, thanks chaps😁😁

I've watched loads of podcasts about all sf's and everyone reckons our SAS and SBS are the best but you hear next to nothing about our SRR soldiers but I'd definitely expect them to be like among the best of the best. Even though most Brits don't know any sf personally but still feel proud that they're British.

Ha, i certainly remember him, i was 917 before getting injured to and passed out with 934, i met James and the rest of "hollywood troop" at ctcrm, especially stunt man collins in hunter 😂, love the channel and seeing what he has gone on to is hoofing, listening to his struggles is tough but pass on my best to him ❤

Great vid mate. Remember watching this guy on the show and really geared me up to join the army in 2015.

Listening to his struggles in civvy street, there are so many similarities in how I’ve struggled also. The lack of competition between the lads and the environments you find yourself in civvy street don’t push you to your limits like the military does.

Fascinating stuff.

Watched Commando on the front line in 2007/2008. I was 11/12 years old at the time. I’m Irish, there is a stigma around the British armed forces in my country but fuck me, the upmost respect I had for guy’s like James.

Always smiling and always positive throughout the documentary series. Something that always stuck with me even to this day. Glad he made it home safe and in one piece.

James description of surveillance is spot on. The only thing to add is SRR operators will do all that under all that pressure in hostile extreme risk scenarios. If one of the enemy or targets people spots you in an area where they loathe soldiers and westerners you are in life threatening danger. History has shown that. That’s why it isn’t a drugs team on a council estate. That’s why Patreus asked about the SRR

Definitely similar to what the American SOF world became post WWII. Civilians always want a ranking system but they don’t understand it’s different mission sets that may overlap and those mission sets fluctuates on importance and impact pending AO and objectives. On our side of the pond it’s a big machine and every element is a gear in that, IOT achieve the objective. All my common wealth brothers and the machines they represent have all been able to sync nearly flawlessly! 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇦🇺🇨🇦🇳🇿
