I left a comment on Dilksy (the interrogator) instagram account asking if he really disliked Joey Essex in real life or was it just for the show and he responded to my comment saying “just for the show. He’s a lovely bloke and we had a good chat after” I’m glad they spoke to each other afterwards off camera

I never served. I really wish I had and have so much respect for those that did.

The beginning bit is hilarious. My Dad was RE. Did his 25 and left in 95 as a WO2, MPF. He’s 70 now and still tells the stories of building BBQs and bars etc. As well as other brilliant stories (I’ve heard them time and again and still love hearing them). Claim to fame…. A bypass was named after him in Bosnia, Cooks Bypass. He was part of 36 engineers at the time and the Serbs kept blowing up a bridge which was vital for the supply line, so they built a bypass through the mountains. So proud.

You know his banter game is the strongest!

I love the sas and the British forces, some of the best in the world, but how they conduct interviews is superb. Their whole attitude is amazing, considering what these guys have been through. It was so fun compared to the serious, stoic seals. From an Irish man

Another great episode. I'm eating them up at the moment and this guy is hilarious. Funny as. Thanks for these fantastic interviews, giving us the chance to look into the lives of very unique, tough, capable guys. The top one percent of the country, all day long.

"The monocle falls out..." Classic!! 😂😂😂

Reverse interrogation, opened him up like a kipper.. Dilksy spilt the beans 🙃🤣❤️

Thank you for showing a human side of Dilksey 😉
Am interested, what sort of training did he have to go through to become an interrogater?
SAS selection is one, thing but for you to be the icing on the cake is something special.

When I was young (circa 1984) we emigrated to South Africa as my old man had been offered a well-paying job. We travelled a lot and did our best to integrate with the local Boers who were often suspicious of Brits. One time we went out to the border around Beitbridge (where you cross over into Zimbabwe) with friends. They introduced us to a bunch of people who worked in some pretty infamous units in the SADF. They seemed like ok guys but when the Braai (BBQ) kicked off in the late evening and the beer started flowing they became increasingly serious and the discussion switched to their experiences fighting along the northern border and beyond it. It was pretty clear some of these people were elite special forces and my old man asked whether they were like the SAS. I'll never forget this one guy looking my dad straight in the eye and saying, "No. We're a death squad. We get told who to eliminate and we do it". I remember the blood draining from my dad's face but I give him credit for asking, "But what would you do if you were ordered to get rid of innocent people, women, children?". Without a flicker of emotion the guy said, "What's the difference?"

you blokes have a very interesting way of story telling your experiences of such significant moments. cheers

I could hear you 2 for days. Amazing episode, Dilksy is my favourite guy from the show.

Really good interview, enjoyed watching that

Great interview

How much fun was this podcast 🎉

I'm sure he was in Chatham about 2007/08 , great character , got a lot of respect and banter from the rest of the NCOs , if he wasn't then it was a chap just like him , 9 sqn ,

ENJOYED THE FULL EPISODE. Thanks for this 'condensed' version for the rest of the kids out there.

What a brilliant, clever and seriously f***ing scary bloke Dilksy is.  Fantastic listen too, on the full podcast👍

You're right here mate. ✋
