Yes, Jin had injured his hand and just had it operated on so he couldn't take part in the jacket trick but I think they found a pretty brilliant solution. Not only that but the performance almost didn't happen since they'd taken turns being sick with Covid, J-Hope was quarantined in South Korea and Jungkook was quarantined after arriving in the US. They'd practiced with different stand-ins for a long time but as a whole group they only got one day of practice right before the performance to get it right. However, they were still named as the best performance of the night and number 13 in the history of the show.
💜

JK and j-hope had literally just gotten cleared of COVID and JK was worried about his voice.
Jimin was still recovering from an emergency appendectomy.
Jin's finger was significantly injured.
They had all flown in from Korea at different times during the on-off lockdown situation.
And they had a total of ONE dance practice with the whole group before this.

The Grammys was in Las Vegas that year, hence the heist/cards theme. RIDICULOUS that they didn't win. They make every performance special.

Jin had just had hand surgery, and JK and J-Hope had just come out of Covid quarantine.
They rehearsed together on stage for the performance just one day before.

You are correct that BTS was the first K-pop group to perform at the Grammy's (still are the only ones to have done so), but their first time was during COVID so they did Dynamite from Seoul. The reproduced the Grammy stage for that performance, at the request of the Executive Producer, Ben Winston, who was also the Executive Producer for the James Corden show (BTS had reproduced the Corden show set for a COVID appearance on their show, and Ben was hugely impressed so asked if they could do it again for the Grammys).

BTS has been nominated for five Grammys, but they haven't yet won. They should have for both Dynamite and Butter. Hopefully you noticed that BTS was given a standing ovation for this performance of "Butter" - not something the Grammy audience does for just any performance. They were very impressed, because they were clearly dancing and performing that amazing show while singing live.

Also, the city of Las Vegas had invited BTS to hold a concert there after seeing their 4-night appearance in Los Angeles in Nov/Dec 2021 (I got to see the first night of those shows!!). BTS schedule the Vegas concerts for the two weekends after the Grammys, and part of what the Vegas officials had promised was to turn Vegas purple for BTS - loads of businesses on the strip turned their signs purple, hotels had special packages that included merch, restaurants had Korean menu items, there was a BTS exhibition for fans at "The Grounds" area at Area15, there were both planned and unplanned dance parties at hotels that played BTS music - it was a whole experience that got nicknamed "Borahaegas" (Purple is the fandom color, and purple in Korean is "Bora"). BTS played four nights at Allegiant stadium over two weekends (April 8/9 and 15/16). BTS members attended a couple of shows themselves while there (Silk Sonic and Lady Gaga's jazz show).

These young men are the total package.🎉😂❤

Apparently At 1:18 Taehyung whispered “blah blah…” in her ears lol 😂. Kudos to the girl who reacted appropriately 😅.

The celebrities gave a standing ovation.

Smooth like butter like a criminal undercover. Breaking into your heart like that. That's where this theme comes from. The James Bond stealing something precious. They can break into my heart anytime. Well, I guess I already have lol😅

A few years before this performance BTS does a show called Run BTS. BTS does all types of events and adventures in Run BTS. But one of the tasks was getting through beams/ropes without touching them. ARMY's of course were saying wouldn't it be cool if they could do this in a dance number...and here it is. Incredible!

K-pop king is Bts ❤❤❤

BTS is the first and only K-pop act to perform at the Grammys, first in 2020 and then again in 2021. This performance entered the list of best Grammy performances in history. BTS was also nominated 6 times and didn't win any, eventually discovering that their influence was being used to boost viewership because their performance had twice as many views as the entire Grammy Awards, which is why they were relegated to the end. Therefore, they decided not to attend again.

2018 BTS MMA Only reactions 🔥🔥
