So pleased to hear Connors give the great Pancho Gonzales his due. Connors was never my favourite back in the day, but he'd always be my pick if you had to choose someone to play for your life. He just never gave up. It's so interesting to hear these legends pick their top 5. I would never pick Nastase, because no matter how well he played, I hated his antics and his attitude. Never found him remotely funny.

Jimmy, you were always my favorite player. I think it could be said that you were one of the greatest of all time, maybe the best.

Jimmy Connors is and will always be the ultimate warrior.

Mcenroe did a similar assessment. I find both Mcenroe and Connor to be refreshingly honest and gentlemanly despite what they may have done on the court from time to time in moments of passion. These are two outstanding gentlemen and tennis players

Jimmy has always been my best memory and greatest player. I have told him this: I used to watch him practice as a younster with his mother, Gloria, at Forest Park in St. Louis where he grew up. Jimmy had the talent, drive and temperament to ascend to the highest level in tennis and deserves all the accolades attendant to that. But I'll also say this: his mother had a lot to do with that as well.

There is some fine footage of Pancho Gonzales on the internet. He was a great mover on the tennis court, so strong, so agile.

Thank you Jimmy. Thank you for naming Pancho Gonzalez as the best ever. He was. He was still winning tournaments against the best at half his age. He's why I started playing this sport. A warrior with an edge, yet grace and dignity unmatched. Thank you, Jimmy.

Loved Jimmy Connors 😊 beating McEnroe in the 82 Wimbledon final is one of the greatest matches ever ☑️

Jimmy, thanks for the memories. You are one of the greatest tennis players I have ever seen.

I agree Pancho Gonzalez never got the opportunity when he was in his absolute prime to play the so called best. He was a professional and they were not allowed to play in majors or other tournaments. I saw him play and it blew me away.

Interesting that both Connors and McEnroe mentions that when Borg retired they lost something from their game.

I learned about Rod Laver because he was John McEnroe's Tennis hero, now i will learn about Pancho Gonzalez :) Thankyou for telling me about him Jimmy.( The Wimbledon match between Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe that Jimmy mentions - when Jimmy won - took place in 1982 for anyone who wants to look it up and watch it)

JIMBO!! The only man that will ever be a US OPEN champion on clay, grass and hardcourt. That itself deserves a GOAT discussion.

John McEnroe found the right words: He said of Jimmy Connors that, while he wasn't the best player technically or tactically, he possessed a quality that drove you to despair—because losing simply wasn't an option for him, and just when you thought he was dead and buried a thousand times over, he would get back up for the thousand-and-first time and thrash you off the court.
