Hey everyone! Hope you enjoy this episode!! Please make sure to like the video and leave a comment it really helps the channel ❤

I remember one incident when I worked in retail.  This lady was waiting to be served and her child was playing up.  She turned around to the child and said "Behave, or you'll end up like them" - giving us snotty looks as she did so.  I meant what I said next but never meant for it to come out.  "What?  Employed?"  Retail was soul destroying so I always go out of my way to be a nice customer as I feel their pain.

I used to work in a high street “health” store, let’s call it “bolland and harret”. Famous for their penny sales. Buy one, get a second for a penny. Y’know the drill.

One day, a customer came up to the till and asked “is this in the penny sale?” To which I replied, “no, but they are currently half price”

Her: So not in the penny sale then?

Me: No, each item is half price.

Her: Can’t you put them in the penny sale?

Me: Staring blankly for a moment So you want me to put the items up to full price so you can get a second for a penny?

Her: How dare you speak to me like that! I am an educated woman! I have three degrees!

At which point a customer behind her in the queue chimed in with “and not one of those degrees is in maths…”

I've a friend who suffers "mild" seizures. So his seizures don't cause him to pass out or shake or anything like that. He just gets a bit wobbly, his expression changes, and his eyes or lips (sometimes both) will change expression. I remember one time we were going to a cafe, and just as we were walking to a table he had a seizure. Some broad nearby made a comment about him being drunk. I looked her dead in the eyes and said loudly enough for all to hear, "How fortunate for you that you don't suffer seizures, and that you have the convenience of not knowing what seizures look like." I must've embarrassed her half to death because she and the person she was with immediately gathered their things and left. I have zero tolerance for assumptions and lack of compassion. The seizure only lasted a matter of seconds (they always do for him), but still.

And I don't know what the reason was in the UK (I suspect similar to the reason here in Canada), but what I have learned as to why out notes changed from paper to plastic is a) cheaper to make, and b) more difficult to counterfeit. The U.S. bills are apparently much difficult to duplicate, which is why they have not changed over to plastic, and I don't believe they have any intention of doing so. At least not yet. I wish there were a way to make the plastic more environmentally friendly, though. Which is why I seldom bother with cash.

The worst situation I had to deal with in retail of someone being sick was this poor sweet elderly gent who was a regular at our shop. We all loved him to bits, he was just the dearest fellow. We had an on-site chemist office and he'd come in to pick up a prescription. This poor dear was so unwell we could all see it as soon as he came in. He decided he wanted to treat himself to a little chocolate bar or something, but just as he was coming through the checkout, he ended up having a terrible bout of diarrhea. Growing up I had cared for a number of ill relatives who'd lost control of their bodily functions, so I had a tough tummy and was no stranger to cleaning up these sorts of messes. He was in tears with embarrassment, but I volunteered to sort everything out. We sat him down on a plastic chair whilst I cleaned up the mess. Then using my employee discount I bought him a fresh pair of trousers and pants (which my employer reimbursed me for later, which was not what I expected as this was no small business). I took him to the loo and cleaned him up; he apologized profusely and wept because he felt he was being a burden. Thankfully he did recover from his illness and, bless him, came back and gave me an entire box of homemade sweets his daughter had prepared for me. ^_^ He was such an absolute doll.

I had a coworker who was 100% serious when she said that people who work in fast food don’t deserve a living wage because those jobs are for kids and kids don’t have bills. All I could respond was “who runs the food places when the kids are in school?” And it just would not compute for her. It’s infuriating.

Worked in retail for 8.5 years. I will always say this: you can never be a decent human being until you’ve worked a service industry job. It’s those jobs that not only show you how people REALLY act, but it also teaches you resilience and patience.

My dad came into the room while I was watching this, and he pointed at Luxeria and said "She's really cute." (He uses the word 'cute' interchangeably with 'pretty' and 'beautiful') Even though the comment had nothing to do with me, I did get an aggressive amount of joy from knowing we agree 😂

If you wanna lose brain cells from customers work a Customer Service job 😂

For a funny story though - I was cashiering and I have a small tattoo of an owl sitting on a heart on the inside of my left forearm. This man scoffed and goes “a tattoo, really? what does your mother think?” and I happily replied, “she has the exact same one, we got them together.” He. Was.

FLABBERGASTED

Luxeria, you're right about security only really being there for insurance purposes.  I worked in security for 17 years and was genuinely told that they only hired guards for insurance and as a visual deterrent.  I know some will work as a sort of customer service/concierge role in the more high end stores, so opening doors for customers too, but generally that's about the scope of the job.

Paramedic here, never restrain so,some having an epileptic fit. You can do serious damage to the person.

Only physically intervene if they are in danger

Lots of love

Oh it is hard work being alive ✨ 😂

I will never forget when I was working at a grocery store and a customer came up to my register - I said, "Hi, how are you?" and he said "Are you satisfied with your level of education?" I was pretty taken aback, but I said, "Uh, yeah." I had a bachelor's degree in the field of my choice, and a full-time job in that field. I was just working at the grocery store on my days off for extra money. But he didn't even listen to me say yes, he just launched into a lecture about how important education is and how I should go to college. Didn't leave a single gap for me to speak again the whole time I finished ringing him up.

I was a lifeguard, and we don't allow snorkel-style masks, as when kids (or anyone really, but mostly kids) have their noses covered, it increases the risk of aspirating water even without the snorkel part itself.
A wee boy and his dad came in and I just knelt and said "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we don't allow that style of goggles in the pool I'm afraid. Can I ask you to pop those into your locker for now and you can check at the desk if we have spares you can borrow?"
The boy was absolutely fine but the dad kicked up a stink. "Well I got these for his Christmas and he's been so excited to wear them what do you want us to do with them and we came all this way and you've ruined his Christmas because this is all he's ever wanted"
I explained that it's my job to keep my swimmers safe and enforce the rules set by my managers, and we don't allow them for the reason I've already mentioned. The boy kept saying "Dad, it's fine, I don't mind, just put them away"
I said again that there could be spares at the desk to borrow, but he had actually brought a regular pair with him as well and was just embarrassed by his dad's behaviour. I said to him I'd be happy to call my manager over to explain it to him but he said "I just think you're overstepping a lot here, it's my job to look after my son. Not yours!!"
Sir, I think you'll find I go through rigorous training every month in order to have the qualification I need to stand here and look after BOTH of you. That's literally my job. We aren't here for the lols.

It’s such a better day when a new episode of Gag of the Millennial drops!

As Roly knows if you want to keep your sanity don't work in retail. Sometimes I wish I didn't 😂

For years I worked overnight shifts at a gas station in the middle of the American Bible Belt, and always ended up working Christmas Eve into Christmas morning (due to being the only childless single on staff with no family to celebrate with, apparently), and always got to deal with the angry Christmas crowd.

For context, every other business in town was closed, and we were not only the only pumps running (this was not recent), but we were also the only source of conveniently overpriced food - and most importantly, milk.

We always overstocked milk for the holidays, and it was never enough. I can't tell you how many people I got IN A ROW complaining about the milk running out, being cursed out over it, hearing the C word for the first time, all because of freaking milk.

There's also the drive-offs, the tweakers, the creeps that won't leave and call you "baby girl", the fact that the police just straight up won't answer when called sometimes...

11pm to 8am was a hell of a shift. Sure glad I work in a kitchen now, and don't talk to people.

Quite literally NOTHING in my life is more fun than watching these two together! ❤ i have rewatched this podcast probably 15 times now! More LuxLy! Together ❤❤❤❤❤

Into the optic nerve.... WE'RE BLIND GIRLS X😂

There was a video that went viral of a woman berating teenagers working in a fast food shop for doing something wrong. It crossed the line to literal physical assault. Part of her sentence was to WORK in this place for x amount of hours for x weeks. I approve of this judge.
