And playing for the song is more important than anything

Ringo was simply perfect for The Beatles (both musically and for his personality/humor).  Impossible to match that.  It's a huge miracle that this band even existed, with four other-dimensional talents living in the same city, becoming close friends and being so compatible and complementing each other so well.

The video said it all when it stated Ringo's playing was "incredibly musical". This is something few people understand and appreciate in a drummer. Charlie Watts possessed the same gift.

People act like Pete best did something wrong. All he ever did was join a band when that band needed him in order to go to Hamburg, that’s all he did. He got kicked out, and people are still kicking him. I have never heard Pete best say anything bad about Ringo

Why don’t people lay off Pete, he never hurt nobody

One of the things that's so important with a drummer Ringo also had: He had an uncanny sense of timing. He was always precisely on time and on the beat.

I was in a working band for many years and worked with several drummers.
Those that are "good enough" vs being a real pro is something you can really feel when performing.
Pete Best sounds just "good enough"...there's a certain hesitation and weakness in his playing that comes across to me like a person who has taken lessons and has been practicing for a while.
Ringo's playing, by contrast, sounds confident and strong...like a professional drummer.

Folks don't realize that John, Paul, and George felt lucky to get Ringo.

Pete was in the Beatles, Ringo is a Beatle.

With Pete was the Beatles 3+1, with Ringo the fab4, the fourheaded Monster

Ringo Starr's drumming was so unique and innovative compared to standard drummers. You can almost tell any Beatles song just by listening to Ringo's track by itself. His steady beat is unsurpassed. Ringo is a phenomenal drummer because of those attributes

Anyone who has ever played in a band has experienced what happened with a musician changing out, either by quitting or getting fired.  This video doesn't mention that it took Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr) almost a year of being with the band to feel like he belonged and the chemistry was finally there. Both Ringo and Charlie were efficient drummers and didn't waste motion, nor were they flashy.  They were both human metronomes who locked onto the time signature and never wavered. The best drummer I worked with over the years tuned his drums to a chord on my piano. It made all the difference and his drums became musical.  I wonder if Ringo or Charlie did that?

The Beatles are the ultimate example of musicians who serve the song

We all know what a wonderful masterpiece the Beatles song "A Day in the Life" is. But I don't know how many people stop to realize how much Ringo's drumming contributes to the magic of that track.

Ringo is absolutely right. There's a video on YT that has Love Me Do played by Pete Best and then a version with Ringo and it's night and day. Best puts some terrible clunky beat on it and Ringo plays it straight up, no chaser and it's perfect.

Another thing that differentiated Ringo's style and approach was the fact that he was left handed. He set his kit up differently and used it differently, along with all the other differences mentioned in this video.

Why can't people just leave Pete Best alone?  This all happened over 60 years ago.

Literally every person on the planet knows Pete Best was the Beatles' original drummer.

Rino was a fantastic drummer 🎵
