Worst balance changes imo

End of ted talk

When you said ”we have to talk about EX Lunge” I immediately knew what video clip you were about to show and burst out laughing

Probably wasn't that bad for the game overall but a change I always found really funny was Capcom emphasizing they wanted to nerf moves that beat throws in a post-V-Shift balance patch and in practice they removed throw invul from Gief's EX SPD and gave 1 or 2 other chars a slap on the wrist

The Laura buff is a very interesting example of how delicate balance is in fighting games.

To be honest the entire video could be a dozen different Abigail changes.

8:20 the funniest part of the EX Lunge Punch buff is that this was actually a revert back to how it worked originally when Yun was added in AE. Lunge Punch was plus on block back then and was nerfed to be minus in AE 2013, THEN it was made plus again in Ultra... for some ungodly reason

We are going to be looking at Hashogeki like this in SF7

"Using the super armour skill as an anti-air but the counter whiffs" Oh hey, its trying to anti air as Marisa

A funny change in recent history is when JP's crHP antiair was nerfed and then immediately reverted. I think that's the only time a change was reverted in SF6

Twitch chat said 18:27 "you can see the rollback" in a local match. 😂

One thing to note about the USF4 Dee Jay change is that they did actually gave low sobat the low invincibility back in one of the smaller patches released after Ultra launched.
They did marginally compensate by making it more minus by a single frame.
The end result is that light sobat went from -5 to -4 from AE2012 to Ultra after everything is said and done.

One change i didn't like as a SF5 Bison player was his EX Devils Reverse in season 2, they made it track. It made it stronger but completely removed the player's ability to control the character and IMO it was way more fun before the "buff" with all the advance/retreat mind game

thank you lord broski i needed something like this rn

This was a great video and really insightful. Thanks , diaphone!

They killed SFV Alex early on with that anti-air light nerf too. Like Abigail, I feel like they explicitly designed it to be an anti-air (as his others were incredibly non-reliable) but they decided that because others didn't get to keep their accidental anti-air jabs, neither did those two. Instead of buffing his anti-air knee moves to be actually useful, or even making the attack slower and moving it to his MP like it was in SF3, they just didn't give him anything. Just more lariat plus frames instead, I guess. Almost entirely sucked the enjoyment out of playing him (for me) until the last patch finally made him actually have an answer to being jumped in on by making his HP actually a pretty good anti-air.

Removed throw invicibility from Cody's EX Criminal upper in USF4. His defense was already bad but they just wanted bro defending himself with a plastic fork. No idea why they did that. HE WAS ALREADY LOW TIER!!! EVEN MOMOCHI HAD TO DROP HIS ASS!!!!!!

Lmao I love how javirog’s legacy will forever be the final tap clip

4:24 Reminder, in the final patch, as a way to kill jab AA for good, they gave jump normals invincibility to grounded light normals.

To this day I'm still upset at seeing Mika's drop kick stopped by loosely timed jabs in season 5. It looks wrong. It hurts my feelings. It hurts Mika's entire game. It just looks bad.

Chun li lk anti air removal was a crime. It was literally designed to do that
