This was such a surprise build! Definitely put this on your must-build list!!

Im completely floored by this. I had zero clue that battery did this. No clue.

I’m hitting “like” earlier and earlier on every video. Love this channel.

Almost all the distortion type pedals got MORE distorted at lower voltage, didn't expect that at all. Also added a bit of gooey tube amp-ish sag and compression, to my ears. Super cool idea!

I'm gonna go try build this with an expression pedal instead of the pot!!

Damn good content mate.. 🤟

Ha...On the fly?  It's perfect as usual.

i bought a univibe a while ago, and i used it with a battery, just to save cables, but what i discovered as the battery was dying, was that as it was just about to die, it made a sound like  a WWII air-raid siren. and THAT's the same sound as the sound at the end of Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine... so Thats how they did that.

I'd seen the JHS one but your in depth commentary really sold me on making one for myself. Thanks for another great video.

That's an interesting way to get different sounds (more fuzz, etc). Wiring the potentiometer so that turning it down starves the voltage could sense for some folks.

Perfect timing with this video!! new to pedal building and wanted to know how starving the voltage for a delay pedal would potentially effect it. Asked in a building forum and got told not to waste my time. Looks like I'm building a Starve pedal next!! Cheers for the content.

Really like your videos! I've been working with guitar effects for 50 years, 🤣 but I always learn something new from you.

It makes your guitar sound like it needs to clear its throat

Mojave has those gauges in the US

You can also buy already-built DC-to-DC converters as a completed PCB, with up/down buttons, and a display which shows input voltage, and output voltage to a couple decimal points, for just over $1 to a few USD each.

Inspiring video!
I think I will modify a pedal with an additional potentiometer after testing the sounds. I also like to blend the original guitar signal with the distortion and fuzz signals and make the output signal more adjustable with a pot, I did this with a fuzz pedal and it sounds great. I think I try it with this fuzz pedal that is already modified. I also tried to boost it with your idea using a transfomer TL 019-R, but it was too extreme. This is something I have to try if I build a bigger pedal with enough space for all the pots and switches.

Killer idea .
I use a simple DC-DC boost module as a alternative to use with rechargeable batteries. Only prob is it wont replicate the capacitance etc, so it wont really act like a dying battery, You can build a portable pedal power supply with option the cut or boost voltage.
I like to push 10v plus on some transistor based preamps it really opens up the circuit if caps are rated high enough in the pedal.

This is like the “Sag” knob on the Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop, right?

This would be great with a momentary switch.

Gidday Walon you legend! Great videos and tasty playing as always. I've still got my wonderful burns pedals from backnin the day and they're still rocking 😀 I reckon I need to build me one of these voltage doo-dads now!
Sounds great 👍

Very nice.
