Weird that Hannah didn't accuse Bastendorf until after she was found not guilty.

My first thought, when I heard that Hannah was in prison for theft that she was part of some group of criminals. One of the men mentioned had most likely done the murder, as Hannah seemed to be simply a thief. Poor eccentric Matilda! She and her sister were quite an odd pair, and when her sister died, Matilda must have realized how there was no place in this world where she could find a sympathetic friend.

One of the most striking things about this case what a good job the police did in investigating the crime. I think Hannah Dobbs was fortunate to be found not guilty but the Bastendorff household was clearly not the best or safest place to lodge in. It seems clear that Matilda Hacker suffered from a form of mental illness but what a tragic and needless death. Canterbury is a fascinating town, l visited a few years ago.

Always a good Monday when I have time to watch the new Brief Case right away! 🌈🌞

I believe Hannah was guilty and had help putting her in the basement. How could it be accidental or natural death if there was a rope tied around her neck?

Good Monday to all!

An extraordinary saga. One assumes that Matilda Hacker became more than a little touched as she aged but what then transpired as she sought anonymity in the great metropolis would be seen as somewhat far-fetched in a novel but was indeed not fiction but fact.

I wasn’t expecting that turn of events at the end. Another great brief case BC.

This must be one of the first cases of a body identified using dental records.

Wow! I was very surprised by the verdict! I believe Hannah had something to do with that murder! She may not have directly committed it, but she had many of Matilda's personal items. Even if she was told to stay quiet about it and was given those things as some type of bribe to do so, that still makes her responsible partially for the cover-up! I believe Mr.
Bastendorf got away with murder.
