Scale - look at the wheelbase compared to the real thing. This is close to 1/7. The foam in the back prevents the seats from flapping and potentially breaking their mounts.
I'm still confused on what advantages leaf strings have over shocks when it comes to running on trails and "off road" fun (not necessarily rock crawling). I get the "scale" and realism aspect, but for practical use it seems counter productive. Love this series, I'm coming back to the beginning after stumbling across the leaf spring installation video you did. I get my FJ40 tomorrow, so I'm brushing up on all things FJ40. Cheers...👍👍👍👍👍
I stumbled upon this video as after building/customizing my mashigan (even replacing that weird stock fms transmission) with something much better to compete in class 2 comps in SORRCA and local comps that I decided to order the FJ40 and leaf spring kit and build it to scale. I'm going to go fill reverse on the FJ40 though and try doing a leaf under axle like they were on the real ones. I'll definitely be watching this build series for sure. I've subscribed in case you do any other upgrades on the FJ40
I have the Mashigan and same concerns..Hw 1080, servo, wheels, and tires. Drives awesome now. I think maybe a rig like a hauler that you would back up a lot with might be cool with the strange trigger control gimmick thing. I'm not sure anyone uses it at all. Nice channel, new sub!
I'm back, lol. You are the only video I find that mentions and shows the servo horn. Mine broke after impacting large brick frozen in the snow. Is the stock servo a 25T? I bought 25T servos that were the exact size, but they will absolutely not fit over the servo gear. Love the channel.......Subscribed!
