I have a 5 year old yellow lab who is super active, as well as super food motivated. The issue we’ve been having for quite some time is his behavior with jumping on counters and swiping food, pots to get food, knocking over treat jars, you name it. He’s done it for so long it’s to the point where he has been growling when he gets ahold of a shoe, sock, bag of food, etc. We try our best to hide everything from him but he’s gotten so smart to where he literally uses his paw to swipe pots of the stove ( when it’s not hot) and gets food out of it. He eats things and we’re worried he’s gonna not be so lucky one day and have a blockage or get severely sick or hurt, and we simply cannot take him to the vet every time it happens. Other than the item taking and shredding/eating, he’s a great active lab and is so lovable, but this has started to become more and more of an issue.  Shock collars have been mentioned to try and help redirect and stop the behavior, but I don’t want to scare him or make him more aggressive in those times he gets things. Do you think this could stop him?  We’re at a lose at to how to stop it while also living normally and protecting him. Any help or insight is very much appreciated. We’re trying our best and want and need it to stop.

So glad I found your videos. I just purchased a Mini Educator and am just starting training with my 5 year old Labradoodle. He is trained but reactive to other dogs on walks, dogs walking by our home and most annoying dogs on television. Looking at your e-course

Doggett, I'm so glad I found your videos! I rescued a Shepherd Husky mix, (Kona) or so I've been told. Pretty sure she's 5 yrs old. She's highly excitable, neighbor kids playing, neighbors mowing the lawn, squirrels, birds, she's tall and long, she's literally jumped on her hind legs and knocked a bird from the air, killing it. I understand animals and their inherent behavior, my dilemma, I have a fenced yard, however, I have to keep Kona on a lead because she can easily jump the fence when enticed. I feel, my opinion, that she's prey driven, and once she's on a mission, she'll snap her lead, knowing full well that it only reaches so far!

Sadly the idiots at the RSPCA and Kennel Club UK are badgering our politicians to ban E Collars and in the next week or so we expect a ban.  I have a 2 yr old GSD that is very reactive but amazing in every other sense.  She is brilliantly trained, excellent recall, amazing pet in the home but has one major flaw, she is terrified of dogs, if one even trys to get close she goes full defensive and looks absolute savage yet she has never bit anyone or any animal in her life thanks to my e collar training.  My dog is not aggressive at all, she will happily leave dogs alone if they leave her alone but due to hardly any dogs being trained they all run around like idiots with zero recall and charge at my dog which sets off her reactivity.  The only tool in my arsenal that stops my dog in her tracks is the collar, it's amazing.  I would estimate it's saved the life of about 20+ rabbits and maybe saved a few dogs being bit although she has never actually bit a dog yet and she has had more than one opportunity to do so.  If they ban the e collar in the UK it will mean a death sentence to lots of wildlife and even some dogs, it's crazy.  The worst part is people think the collar electrocutes your dog which is ridiculous, it's just a tens machine that delivers a muscle twitching tingle that dogs hate, I have wore it myself and you can hardly feel it and even if you turn it up it's hardly electric shock standard.  If all dogs wore one there would be no more people being savaged, no more dogs, livestock of animals savaged and thats a fact.

Good info, thanks. The e collar hasn't been working well for me during walks in distracting environments, I think I need to go back to working with it in the back yard while doing basic training, on a low level.

I was trying to find my dogs levels yesterday and i didnt think he could feel it. I hit the button and it seemed to me like he was just continuing on his business. Until i realised that every time i hit the button he was confused, it was like he was running up to everyone that was near him like "was that you?"

Loving your channel, thank you. There are too many e-collar options its confusing. I have a 22lb rescue Terrier mix who is prey  driven. I purposely don't feed her before walks and in some scenarios her recall is great with her a bit of her food as reward. Now in higher distraction areas like the beach, a bird, a kite, another dog far away her recall is gone regardless of what the reward I have is. Once she reaches her target she usually comes back but that is not good. She has wire hair not too thick so would you be able to make some e collar suggestions for us to look at preferably something we can purchase online. Thank you in advance and thank you so much for sharing your expertise in a way that totally makes sense for those of us who want to learn the right way.

Not sure if you are willing to answer but when i use a leash conditioning my dog to the e collar, do i still use his pincher chain or switch down to just his collar? Thank you for the time making this video

If the dog is fearful and we are correcting, would tat add on to the negative emotions they are feeling?

Love all the information man. Thank you! I currently have my 70lbs Catahoula leopard dog on E-collar and it’s been the best thing that ever happened to us. Conditioning was easy and she responds really well to it. We recently got a new puppy - 5 month old Rat terrier. Really good boy but I really want to start conditioning him to the e collar. Not sure you do q&a here but I’ll leave a question and maybe you can help me. He’s my first small breed dog and I’m wondering what age I can start conditioning him and if there’s a specific brand of e-collars for small dogs you can recommend. I believe he’ll grow to 25 lbs. Curious to know what e collar you use that allows you to so easily raise the levels. We currently use a Mini Educator and the process to up levels is a little confusing and not a quick process.
