I’m not nearly as familiar with Oblivion as other games I’ve covered on this topic. Feel free to correct me or list other aspects I didn’t consider and fire me as your realtor.

If Kvatch hadn't been attacked, it would probably be the best Cyrodil city, hands down. It had its own arena, some clear park space, a large market plaza at the entrance, a rich history, and one thing we can say is that her defenders were fierce and never gave up, no matter how bad things got. Savlian Mattius is an actual hero, staying by to retake the city and rescue the civilians in the chapel when any lesser man would have fled, and should be remembered for his actions.

They managed to make Bravil look even worse, I'm very impressed.

Far too generous to Cheydinhal. The count is corrupt giving his son a whole ass lodge for his club, instead of better arming his guards. The town has a massive skooma ring run by Orcs. An active vampire who will feed on you as you aren't a member of his guild, and still gets thieves trying to steal from a humble painter. And corruption always worsens as the guards are bullies who will turn to murderers if need be. The guild is also ran by a pyscho who sends you to die.

Basically it's Bravil, in Gucci.

No matter where you choose to live, you'll still have nowhere to poop.
Not one bathroom.

I remember first entering Cheydinhal and instantly falling in love with the architecture, river running through, and all of that. I quite enjoyed it.

Putting Cheydinhal this high is insane. They have an incompetent leader but at least he's not downright evil. The captain of the guard on the other hand is more than just a bit corrupt. It's well known that you should do his quest early because he'll eventually go postal and get killed by his own guard, so if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time he might kill you. The Orum family are a mayor part of the Cyrodil skooma trade. The leader of the mages guild is a necromancer who already killed one guy and has two black soul gems. If he plans on filling those soul gems than he might go after the new guy in town as no one would miss them. Last but definitely not least, the members of the dark brotherhood aren't professionals that only kill their targets. Half of them are unstable killers that have no problem with killing anyone they want.

It's crazy that the imperial city gets punished harder for the thieves guild despite having a strict 'no killing' rule. On top of that the thieves guild actually protect the people in the waterfront district and don't go after them.

>Rumors
I hear there's a lot of cheap land that opened up in Kvatch. Might be just the place for someone who wants to start up a new business, or raise their family.

I saw a mudcrab the other day. Horrible creatures.

One environmental thing I've always found neat about Bruma is basically every building has a significant underground space and that's often where the bedrooms end up, such as their mage's guild hall. I don't exactly know the science behind it but I guess it's easier to keep warm.

I think you're discounting how pleasant and beautiful Anvil is! It's like a medieval Santa Barbara!

Skingrad looks so comfy in the remastered. I used to be a big Anvil head but now I think I lean more to Skingrad due to the way the torches light those glorious cobblestone streets. I also love how compact each steet feels too, just a great city that captures the feel of a city.

When this game came out back in 06, I spent most of my time Chorrol. There was something about it I just really like. I’m having flashbacks playing it almost 20 years later now.

obviously hackdirt

I believe Anvil should be higher. As stated by you, the mage's guild and fighter's guild are very active in the city. I believe that the cheapness of the home would free up some money to hire one or both of them to clear out the home for you, while still providing you with a cheap home

Skingrad is just top choice for me. Sure, the count's a vampire, but he's been nothing but a good leader. And job opportunity? According to the lore, this city has hundreds of vineyards, famous for wine. Housing might be the only problem seeing as the only one for sale atm is an upper-class villa, but the inns are always a good temporary option until you make enough or another option presents itself in the future

I love Skingrad. The stone brick architecture and the way the sunlight seeps into the corridors of buildings is very pleasant to me.

I think Leyawiin's leadership is worth talking about more on the negative side of things. Like, the countess is violently racist towards Argonians and Khajiit to the point she has a torture chamber built exclusively for them and the count seems rather clueless to the whole matter or just doesn't care lol

ANVIL!  Gotta love living by the ocean baby.

Anvil for sure, always liked the coastal vibes, weather seems moderately warm and that lighthouse view from the boardwalk at night with the lit up torches is so beautiful

I haven't gotten the remaster, but the 15 year old memories sure do tingle.
