Restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic, don’t let anybody tell you differently.

I played an unarmed only Monk and you may not be able to be as strong as certain other builds but there is nothing funner than running into the arena and beating the crap out of everybody with your bare hands.

Fortify Skill: Armorer 100 for 2 sec gives you an unbreakable repair hammer early game. Time doesn't pass while in repair menu.

Sam Bram totally crapped on my Wizard-hunting Merchant Pugilist.

Most of them makes your character badass ... but ... there is nothing like athletics for being fun.
Winning fights is one thing, but once you have max athletics and 100+ speed the game engine literally breaks from how much fun you're having.

Conjuration is underrated, especially on higher difficulties because summons aren’t impacted by difficulty modifiers.

I still to this day, absolutely love the jank of the fact you can just bypass all of the skills just by making your own magic. It was one of the finest exploits in a game absolutely riddled with them

Top tip: with the Atronach sign, flame turret towers in Oblivion will either do a very small amount of damage (their spell seemingly isn't levelled) or restore a massive amount of your magicka, essentially making them free recharge/cheese towers.

Note on destruction at 52:00: If you set weakness to magic and weakness to elemental damage as touch and then the actual damage as a target you can get the massive damage boost in one spell. The game applies the 'Touch' portion of the spell first and the 'Target' portion of the spell second.

You can place weakness spells on your damage spells, it just affects the next spell, not the current spell. Note that weakness effects need to be placed last in the spell.

It's still usually better to have the weakness spells separate from damage spells though.

Also, the Bleed from Blade is affected by Weakness to Magic. This makes Blade viable for Master as the Bleed will actually do reasonable damage with Weakness stacking.

Alteration (mainly shield) is super useful for characters going a more dedicated mage aesthetic wanting to only use robes, especially for my main character since I'm going a "fringes of society" kind of witch, wearing only a black robe, black hood, and jewelry, missing out on enchantments from shoes, gloves, and pants, as well as revieving no armor from the gear, so having strong shield spells is a super life saver for me.

This is the only 1-hour video which I didn't get bored at any time in between, great presentation!

@Spyro2292 1 year ago

shield bash also doesnt break invisibility. My night blade argonian uses this to basically bully people. while they slowly die from poison, they also get whacked from random angles with an invisible blunt object.

Illusion will always be my favorite skill, I never tire of frenzied enemies fighting for my amusement!

@Kro-RissaVirus 1 year ago (edited)

Security and Speechcraft might be useless overall as skills BUT given the change to leveling in Oblivion, they’re a free source of level xp throughout your playthrough now rather then a forgotten skill.

Fun fact about stealth archer in oblivion.. if you switch from your bow to a dagger while the arrow is in mid flight, you can get 8x damage with the arrow from range. It's filthy

@TehSymbiote 1 year ago

Im here for as much Oblivion content as you can muster. I didn't play the original on console because I didn't join TES until Skyrim. Thanks for this!

@toasterhorse 1 year ago

mixing a powerful burden well with a long duration damage spell and weakness spells is a useful tool, especially if you're a squishy mage as it keeps melee foes at a distances

40:18 that bear rolling around was cracking me up😂😂😂

Conjuration is my favourite Elder Scrolls skill, it's really satisfying to have a summoned creature fight and "distract" enemies for you while you shoot arrows at them from a safe distance.
