Saw someone comment on how much everyone has aged in the series and how sad it made them.

I actually think it’s beautiful. Time has in fact passed since the beginnings of this show. For these actors and actresses to actually be willing to let themselves age instead of endlessly filling, lifting, and botoxing the ever living out of their faces and remove their abilities to even act? It’s immensely refreshing.

Edith must have the most transformative arc in the series. Her character changes so much, starting during WW1. From Mary’s mortal enemy to her staunchest defender here. She’s stumbled a few times along the way but I think she’s the most interesting character in that family. Her days as a ruthless rival of Mary’s actually kind of paid off in this scene. People who don’t know her don’t realize she’s not someone you ever mess with.

Edith outranks them all. Threaten her family, she will rain fire and hell down on you

Edith does appear to have picked up a bit of her Granny's personality.

Not a single crumb was dropped from how she ate him up.

In the first season, when Edith found out about Pamuk, she was no less than happy to trumpet it out before the world. And now here she is quite protective of Mary when she learns about Sambrook. Quite a transformation.

The scene with Edith and Mr. Sambrook is one of my favorites from the whole of Downton Abbey. It's wonderful to see her become empowered and use that power so beautifully.

Lady Edith has an iron hand under a velvet glove. BRAVO!

4:36 Social power....quite a flex. Poor people flex muscles, rich people flex money, statesmen flex military, but nobody flexes social power like Edith does over here, when she says that she can get Sambrook kicked out of the socialite circles of an entire country. There is only one country these days that immensely capitalises on such social power and is quite successful in that matter.

I love Mary and Robert's relationship in this. They've come a long way. He recognizes that she will be the one to protect Downton and keep it running. Mary is her father's heir, as she always wanted to be.

Wow both Mary & Edith have that same manner as their grandmother violet in many things.. Violet was not there for the nonsense.

Edith gave the same vibes as the Dowager Countess questioning Amelia's behaviour in season 6!

EDITH!!! 🔥🔥 Whew, granny came through for that one!

Happy marriage to a marquess has given Edith the confidence she struggled to find earlier in life. Nor is she bluffing here. Her social clout is sufficient that if she told the elite that Mr. Sambrook is a thieving scoundrel they would believe her and Bertie over some American interloper, no matter how good he is at verbal evasion.

I totally feel for Robert looking at the downsized flat in London. I had to laugh when he realized there was no upstairs to go to. I know the feeling. LOL

Get 'em, Lady Hexam!! Edith is the real powerhouse of the family, now. She was always brilliant and unjustly underestimated, with a regal Greco-Romanesque beauty and class, and a toughness that even Lady Mary lacks.
