SESSION 9 | I Was WRONG About The ENDING

Session 9 is an underrated psychological horror film from 2001, and my expectations for this film were way too high. But that's not to say it was bad, just that I struggled to suspend my disbelief so I could actually enjoy the film. I know that sounds insane, but it's fitting for the film and I promise to explain...

Sadly I haven't been able to find this film anywhere online, so if you're reading this (don't forget to have an extra blessed day) and you find the film streaming somewhere let me know.
I will say this is definitely worth the watch and picking up if you haven't seen it. Which I did keep in mind when making this, so you can still go through the whole story and not have spoilers until the end. Even with that though you will miss out on so many amazing scenes.

movies like this fill me with so much anxiety. not for any of the spooky stuff, but because of the seemingly ZERO progress the crew makes on this supposedly important job they're working on.
with only a few guys, they have a week (we'll assume all seven days) to decontaminate this whole hospital (i assume, they don't really say if it's a specific wing or section).
yet they all have enough free time to go treasure hunting; patient file investigating; sitting quietly on a tree limb; full team pow-wow on the roof.
gawl dang, guys, get to working on whatever generic task needs done !!

I really never thought that Simon was a supernatural power or entity. The greatness of that movie is that it's a very human tragedy. Stress, pressure, weakness, weight on your shoulders. That's what Simon is. It's a parallel. It's a metaphor. It's poetic, real and hard. You are 100% right.

The "I wanna go home". It's tired from work, weary from his body hurting, sick of sleeping in his van, but even if he goes to the house where he lives, it will never be the same. The feeling of home is gone

realizing you’ve already lost what you thought you was losing is the most terrifying realization you’ll experience before your reality breaks.

What scared me the most in this movie is that Hank is constantly reliving the moment before the labodomy. Over and over.

I’ve never seen a movie review where the commentator got so down low with the audience. I recognize that a lot of creators love making content not only from wanting to share but as a therapeutic way of reflecting and talking to themselves. It means a lot that you would be so open to share that. Thank you for reminding us we need to talk to others, thank you for the awesome review, thank you

I’ve done demolition and asbestos removal over the years in my time in the construction industry, and one week to do a scope of works that size is ridiculous. It’s just not feasible even in the slightest, especially asbestos removal if done properly because there are so many control measures you have to put in place and adhere to. It’s not like a regular demo where you go in swinging a sledgie and ripping stuff out. It’s time consuming because you can’t stir dust up. I know it’s a plot point to show how much pressure Gordy is under and how desperate he is to take on the job that he would make such a bold claim, and that it’s just a movie, but it’s just something I couldn’t help noticing.

When I had my child, I suffered from severe post partum depression, so I can absolutely relate. If it weren't for my husband's support, I don't think I would've made it through that. Thank you for making this video. I love your content! ❤

The most unbelievable part of this movie was the attorney general son who was in law school ended up working at an asbestos cleanup crew.

Some videos are for distraction, others give catharsis. Sometimes you don't know where it is going when you first hit play. Thanks for the work you do, it is appreciated by your viewers. I always enjoy your deep dives and insights.

45:47 I think if it was JUST her running out and smacking him with the flashlight I would honestly love it. Like, whether Simon is affecting her or not a woman who effectively feels like strange men are wandering around her home and is already unstable might just whack him and run off. It works with your idea of Simon being the embodiment of stress as well, she’s been terrorized for a week trying to scurry around and hide from these men, one of whom is a murderer who kills people via lobotomy which might be her single worst fear

Wow. My Dad taught film interpretation at the local University. You're good at this .

The way this film is shot actually makes it more immersive to me. It was shot with a digital camera, while most films at the time were shot on film. This gave the movie a more documentary-type feel, as it was at a higher frame rate and lower shutter speed.

And the acting feels so eerily natural

Breaking into Danvers State Hospital became a right of passage for northshore kids (north of Boston) in the 90s. I feel like everyone in my high school, including myself, made the pilgrimage. It was a very, very scary place. When I say that place looked abandoned, that's exactly what I mean. It looked like the staff just stopped showing up. There were still beds, desks, file cabinets, intravenous towers, medical instruments, etc etc. Of course, while we were in there, we would try to freak each other out. That being said, it was still so unsettling. If any place could be haunted, it was there.

"to a scary point" is to say "to a morbid degree"

No man I actually needed this. I feel I've been a prisoner of my own mental fog and unwillingness to do things for myself at home if it's not serving another person and I'm getting better
