We’ve been to all 7 continents and 61 countries. We are now in our 70’s and cruise to relax. We have our 20th trip booked with Viking. The whole Viking experience seems to have been designed around what we want.

When it comes to booking excursions or specialty dining, there are a few things that most people don't understand. Some excursions that a lot of people may want to do will allow for maybe 140 people to sign up. Others might only have 20 spots total, but you have no clue how many spots are actually available when booking. When booking specialty dining, a lot of people get upset that they weren't able to book dining between 6:00 and 7:30, and the only available dining spot is 8:30 or 9:00. When trying to reserve a dining spot on My Viking Journey, only about 35% of the spots available for each day are put online. This is so they don't have everyone booking the early times and slamming the kitchen. My first Viking cruise I tried to do everything and left exhausted. My last 2 cruises, I have learned to just slow down let it become one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever done.

We started cruising with Viking at age 51, now we're 58 and have 7 cruises with them, 3 river and 4 ocean, our 8th is an expedition this February to Antarctica...even smaller ship. We have always been nearly the youngest on all the cruises, but like you I hardly notice, everyone seems to be kindred spirits. I love how they do everything, no upselling at all and very quiet and relaxing ships. Pretty sure if I were to start my own cruise line it would look a lot like Viking.

After six years on an aircraft carrier, everything was better in comparison. My wife and I enjoy the Viking model quite well. We control the activity level. The excursions are the highlight, followed closely by quite meals together.

We took one Carnival cruise in the 90s and didn't cruise again until our friends convinced us to try Viking in 2025 because we wanted to go to Alaska. We were hooked. Sailed with them to Antarctica in February and have 2 future cruises booked.

Loved Viking Vesta in the Mediterranean for 3 weeks. 3 Viking river ships in Europe and France not so much. River just didn’t have it together over 3 different ships. Food, Ships and tours awesome. Meeting times and meeting places different from Card to Viking Daily to Tour desk. Service during talks on all 3 ships so nonexistent I ended up serving guests myself. Ocean excelled in all areas.

We've been on 5 Viking cruises. Only once did we encounter, we'll, people we wouldn't want to hang with. I expect that it was this group's first Viking cruise, because they were loud, intoxicated, party group.

I could never get my husband to cruise with me on Royal or NCL so for 15 years I sailed solo or with other family. Then I convinced him to try a Panama Canal cruise and I knew if I wanted him to like cruising I needed to pick the right line for him. So I booked Viking Ocean and he loved it. I thought it was a bit dull but very relaxing. I found myself wandering around alone on an empty ship at 10 pm. I have since gotten him on HAL and Royal. Doubt I will ever get him back on Royal but he let me book another HAL cruise as long as I also booked another Viking.

I’m glad you had a good time on Viking! I’ve taken 9 Viking cruises, 6 Ocean & 3 River, & the 7th Ocean is coming later this year. I definitely fit in with their target demographic! I love the focus on the destination & just wouldn’t be happy on a megaship. To me Viking is traveling; visiting & learning about the destination & its culture, while other cruise lines are more like floating resorts (not a bad thing ,of course!). Hope to see you on another Viking cruise in the future!
