the cursed halo mod is unironically more faithful to halo than the show

"Find the Halo, win the war"

Yeah, the creators of this show knows nothing about Halo. I highly doubt they even read the Wiki. They just saw that the halo is a superweapon, and thought "Oh yeah, our protagonists should use it on the Covenant. What could possibly go wrong?"

44:30 I wouldn't call it fanfiction, because there would have had to been "fans" working on this.

Bro, Landfall and Believe is what launched the live action trailers that Halo used since, they were so impactful that ODST and Deliver Hope deliver such incredible story with no words spoken, capturing the soul of the games to the point that no other game has been able to match.

Halo simply had the single greatest marketing campaign in gaming history.

Elites looking like the brute has been a thing since 343 took over the franchise and changed the art style

52:51 I think the militia guys Jun (and Noble Six) interact with during the mission Nightfall are the closest we get to Insurrectionists. They're farmers and the like who either bought stolen weapons or outright stole the weapons themselves and hid them all around their commune, allowing you to access them as you fight the Covenant.

I remember this because of the dialogue Jun and one of the guys has
Jun: You know these are stolen, right?
Farmer: What, gonna arrest me?
Jun: No, gonna steal them baack~

I LOVE hearing you list off everything they fucked up when listing your reasons for how they couldn't possibly fuck up in your intro. You hit so many points on the head out the gate while having no idea.

@35:51 I hate to break it to you, but that was canon to the Halo setting for a very long time, not an invention of the show. It was introduced in 2010, in the booklet that came with Halo: Reach that during the time Keyes worked with Halsey to "collect" the Spartan-II candidates, they struck up a relationship that fell apart pretty much immediately after their duties no longer kept them in close proximity, and Miranda is the result. They were never married in the original lore though. As far as I know, it was supposed to have just been a fling that ended with Halsey pregnant.

Anyway, Halsey ended up being such an obsessive narcissist that when she realized her daughter was less perfect than her Spartans, she decided that Miranda was a distraction, so she fobbed her off on Jacob to raise and spent the rest of her daughter's life basically ignoring her existence to focus on her work.

YOU NEVER SEEN HALO LANDFALL OMG MAN AAAAAAH

I actually didn't play Halo until my 20's cause my parents actually paid attention to game ratings...

@SubliminalCheese 2 weeks ago

This is Paramount+ we're talking about. A considerable portion of their content is star trek literally not made for Star Trek fans. This "Halo" series is just par for the course for their catalogue.

Oh yes, definitively check out Halo: Landfall. Won't regret it
Also 34:13 the interesting thing is that Spartans were created BEFORE humanity discovered the covenants. Their sole purpose was to eliminate rebels humans.
When the covenant started wiping humanity apart, the whole premise "oh, look at these super soldiers we created for this attack", nobody thought to look further. It's only AFTER that people thought "wait a minute, they didn't get created overnight".
35:48 that though, is accurate. Book wise and (probably) game wise.

@therealdemen247 2 weeks ago

52:47 Actually you do see the Insurrection in Reach. You fight along side them in the mission Nightfall because they realize "oh fuck, it's us or them." And they give you their stolen weapons to help fight off the covenant.

Whahaah... Ohh brother, trust me.., This show was impossible to underestimate. No mater how bad you think it can get, it manages to find a way to get even worse.

"Don't know how to fuck it up?!?!"
Easy, give it to showrunners who don't know it, don't like it, don't care about it, and their only goal was to write their own stories. So used halo IP to hijack an audience.

Tbf that’s basically what the later game of any metal gear sounds like, and thats my favourite franchise oat

1:06:25 That's from the movie "Office Space" (1999)

@BlueTeam-John-Fred-Linda-Kelly 3 weeks ago

Dr Halsey and Jacob keys were a thing in the books, and it was decently well written before the 343i days. Obviously Paramount screwed everything up by taking jacob and miranda off of their ships and sticking all three in the same laboratory for some reason like a drama.

@gingerscape5328 2 weeks ago

You do, in fact, see the insurrectionists in Reach, but the fact you didn’t even know that just goes to show how minor of a point that is.

In the mission where you're sneaking around with Jun, you run across a group of civilians who are fighting the Covenant. A group of suspiciously well-armed civilians, with stolen UNSC weaponry. It may not be outright said, but it is heavily implied that these "civilians" are actually insurrectionists.

But as far as the games are concerned? Who cares. We've got bigger fish to fry than Innies. Come along, suspiciously well-armed civilians, we've got Covenant to fight.
