The most incredible gift arrives in the boat tent when documents that I had no idea even existed are delivered by the grandson of Keryl's designer. Commissioned by a lady - Miss Muriel Whiles - in 1936 my boat was designed by Charles Kingsley. His Grandson - Simon Kingsley - connected with me some time ago. Although he said that he had some drawings I might be interested in I couldn't imagine just what a treasure trove these documents would turn out to contain. Priceless.

Well done Simon, you're doing a great job. Unreal about all those priceless documents 👍👍.
A little tip for Tyler, when using a hand saw, no matter whether its straight cut, bevel cut or compound cut, your arm must be in perfect line with the saw as you cut. If its out to one side then it will create a circular motion rather than smooth straight motion. The saw will jam and judder as you push and pull. Keep Index finger pointing straight down blade of saw, that will aid a straight arm.

I'm currently rebuilding a 28ft 1937 gaff cutter . Its been a total rebuild, so I know how you must be feeling with the workload. ( I'll email some pics) Keep going, you're doing great. All the best.

What an absolute brilliant find and connection with the past. All that paperwork. Brilliant. Leo Sampson is now in the UK I would love to see him take a look at keryl and it would make great content for both YouTube channels. You’re editing your own videos as well which shows the story line really follows now. Keep going. Launch day is just around the corner 😊😂

I'd be pretty certain that when the rabbets were cut originally, it was an endless repetition of "offer-up-and-adjust". It would dressed up as something else, but it wouldn't have been over-thought. Take a little out, see how that looks....then take a little more. If you take a little too much, there's always caulking.

Now that you've got the original drawings and table of off-sets, are you regretting not re-lofting? (I'm joking, of course). Now, don't go checking any dimensions......otherwise you'll be re-framing.

I'll come and cut a heap of those sister frames for you, but it won't be until October.

Love the adze work, Simon. I’ve never had a reason to use one, and informative to see you acquiring the skill (pretty quickly, I suspect.) So, of course, I had to look into the history of the adze. Date back to the Stone Age, apparently. I’m fairly confident that the great medieval cathedrals had their timbers shaped with an adze. Don’t ask me for sources. It was quick and dirty research. So, Stone Age craftsmen, and millennium-old churches. I think that makes Keryl a religious artefact.
