Every year in France, two and a half million hours of instruction are lost. Why aren't teachers on sick leave or in training always replaced? In some subjects, like mathematics, can the teacher shortage explain everything? The Ministry of Education regularly uses contract teachers or temporary staff. How are they recruited?
