Streaming as a hobby or a profession? Chris doesn't hesitate for a second: hobby. And he means it literally.
Chris – known as ChickenChris81 on Twitch – is live almost every day, for twelve to thirteen hours at a time. His tax advisor points out that he earns fifty euros a month doing this. He explicitly states that he doesn't want to make money from it.
He illustrates where the money goes with an example. A family from his community, just before Christmas: the husband is terminally ill, the wife is unemployed, they have two children, and Christmas is canceled. He launches a fundraising appeal, doubles the amount out of his own pocket, and sets off on the night of December 23rd.
Also: what management for a small channel actually does, why a trip to Gamescom is possible, but a mousepad hasn't been in the shop for a year – and what he thinks about broken promises.
