In the premiere episode of America’s Most Infamous Crimes, Katie Ring begins a three-part series on Ted Bundy, one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Long before his name became synonymous with terror, Bundy carefully built the image of a charming, intelligent young man with a promising future.

But beneath that façade, troubling signs had been present for years. This episode traces Bundy’s early life, the secrets surrounding his childhood, and the dark obsessions that grew during his teenage years and college life, leading to the violent attack that marked the beginning of his crimes in 1974.

Looking back at Ted Bundy’s early behavior and warning signs, do you think there were moments where intervention might have changed the course of his life, or was this trajectory already set?

Ted was a psychopath, I don't think a different upbringing would have made any difference. After all, many people have endured what he did, or worse, and they became normal functioning adults.

Wow. Photos I've never seen before. You obviously, put alot of research into this. Grew up in Richmond Beach (seattle). Was at home alone, while my parents were out of town. The late TV news came on, with the news about the Lake Sammamish disappearances. Not sure why, but I was unusually frightened. And literally, ran over to my friend's house to spend the night.

One of the Ten Commandments is , “thou shalt not kill” which implies that anyone is capable of disobeying that command. While intervention might have potentially changed the course of events in Ted’s life, everyone will make their own choices between good and evil .

Great coverage. It's a fascinating case ... with lots of twists and psychological turns. What is it with the "Diagnostic" T-shirt he was wearing?

I know this information has been very difficult for many people to grasp but in my gut and from all the research I'd been doing before the files were "released" I knew these things were happening and I'm so glad you're out there doing so much heavy lifting to get this information to the rest of those people still waking up to this. I certainly consider you a friend of mine and most importantly to humanity as a whole.

It's suspected that he killed a woman in his neighborhood when he was around 14. He use to dig tiger traps in the woods near the house where the neighborhood kids played. He actually impaled a little girl that fell through one of the holes. He was evil from the get go.

He was born evil. Many come from horrible upbringing yet never become criminals 😢

@rockyllpiper3786 5 months ago

He looks like an Evil Jackie Cooper from Our Gang comedies as a kid!

Just before Bundy’s execution Dr James Dobson interviewed him, but Dobson happened to be on a crusade against pornography. Bundy said emphatically that porn played a huge role in his dark desires. How much of that was true, who knows. I listened to this interview when it was replayed in early 2000s. Not sure if it’s still available as Dobson has passed away.

Newbie here I just found your channel and I’m just about to watch your video and I already subscribed liked and I’m commenting before I even watch because that’s YouTube etiquette

@dedekershaw9605 5 months ago

I thought his first kill was earlier than that? When he was in teens. I watched a documentary about him. And she was young.

@dsoule4902 5 months ago

Everyone was “racist” in 1950.
Also to get psych help back then? Not so easy.
It’s important to be aware of the era when doing docus or bios

Profiler Pat Brown succinctly describes these kinds of psychopathic killers. She says they so lack human emotions that they study other people and learn to mimic normal facial expressions. They may practice in front of a mirror for instance. She tells how a serial killer might get a victim on the way home then be normal in the family setting, ordering pizza and having a nice family night.

As for Ted, I came of age here in the Pacific Northwest when he was starting his criminal career. News reports did not know how to cover what was happening and over time Bundy took on the characteristics of almost a folk hero. He was mysterious and daring, a phantom who escaped from the law more than once. When a face was applied to the "mysterious Ted" with the tan Volkswagen, many said he was handsome and he was educated. His victims were beautiful and they were primarily college girls, not sex workers. The term serial killer was not invented for Bundy but after Jack the Ripper, he may be the first of such covered so extensively in the news.

He had a brother 15 years younger than him ! Rich the brother loved Ted very much ...he was like a farher figure for him ! When he learned that his half brother is a serial killer it destroyed him ! Why didnt you mentioned that he had a brother ?! Its very interesting how he cared about his sibling ! Maybee he is still alive ?! The history of his real father is very important to me ,too !
