An airport police officer patrolling the third level of the Tampa International Airport main terminal noticed a woman sleeping in a slanted and distressed position. When the officer approached to verify her well-being, the individual claimed she was okay and waiting for a flight. She was unable to provide an airline, destination, or flight number, arguing instead that law enforcement was legally prohibited from asking for her boarding pass. A subsequent dispatch check revealed the individual had already been issued a one-year trespass warning for the airport earlier in the year and had a previous arrest for trespassing. The encounter ended with the woman being taken into custody and transported to a local jail facility.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
