The Enterprise-D's bridge is basically my space home. I've had dreams where I'm on that bridge

in the early 70's i would drag my dad's easy chair to the middle of the living room and use the magnificent picture window as my main view screen. i was James Kirk, until dad got home.

I love the bridge of The Undiscovered Country. It's lived-in and banged-up, but still fully functional and practical. It's like having an aging car that will get you home all the time.

I grew up inside the Enterprise D bridge,  is like a cozy living room to watch TV, loved the upgrades in Generations but my 2 favs after ,  are the Enterprise A bridge from Undiscovered Country and the Enterprise E bridge:) after editing,  also the bridge of Voyager is great . :)) 22:46

12:51 "So, a traditional viewscreen was added for subsequent features." And was then violently subtracted by Shinzon, giving the bridge a more direct view ahead.

I remember this story: Stephen Hawking was given a tour of the Enterprise D. In the bridge he sat and tapped out a long message. "Will you pick me up and put me in the captain's chair?" WOW! The Star Trek creators were in awe of Hawking and he was in awe of Star Trek! 🙂🙃🙂🙃 Later he would play himself on the holodeck of course, playing poker with Data, Issac Newton and Albert Einstein.

"We'd better get to the tower, Lieutenant."
"We have no tower, sir."
"No tower?"
"Just a bridge, sir."
"Why the hell aren't I notified about these things?"

Personally, I will always feel the bridge we got in The Motion Picture and followups through Star Trek III were the pinnacle of this set design.  But I'm aware enough to realize that is the bridge I grew up with, so that's probably tinting my perspective.  Still my favorite though, especially in Star Trek II.  I was personally never a fan of the TNG bridge, despite having grew up with that bridge as a parallel to the movies.  I really like your description of a 'Hilton in Space.'  The TNG's enterprise always felt soft and round, much like the padded and safety orientated reality of our world in that time period.  After that, I really like the utilitarian look and feel of the NX-01's bridge.

Four missing. Picard's Stargazer bridge, and the Reliant and Grissom bridge from the movies. Plus also Sulu's ship the Excelsior and Enterprise-B. And don't forget the Enterprise-C bridge, too.

Voyager’s bridge feels like home to me. I love most of the bridge designs, but Voyager is the one I’d want to live on. The Enterprise D bridge is also one of my favorites, as is the Strange New Worlds Enterprise. And the NX-01 has really grown on me over time, especially considering how it blends what we know of Trek ship design with more 20th century style tech that makes it feel like the Starfleet ship that NASA might have built.

That's "USS Enterprise. NCC 1-7-0-1, no bloody A, B, C, or D!" to you! 🖖

TNG was my first exposure to Trek when I was a kid. To me, that bridge is iconic. I even had the playset of the bridge way back when (along with the transporter, engineering, and bunch of action figures). Glad it was ranked #1.

My favorite bridge isn't actually from the shows or movies, it's from Star Trek Online.  While Star Trek Picard just reused the the Stargazer bridge set, STO has two different bridges used for the Enterprise-F.  The first released to the game along with the playable versions of the ship back in 2012 (in game, this called the Aquarius bridge).  IDW also recreated this bridge for the Odyssey-class USS Verity in the Star Trek Picard Countdown comic.  But my favorite bridge was introduced later in 2022 for STO's Terran Gambit story arc when they decided to revamp the Enterprise-F's bridge to better reflect the recently updated Starfleet ship interiors, as it was going to be used in multiple episodes in this arc.  This bridge would later be made usable on player ships, titled the Yorktown bridge in-game.  The revamp was done by then-STO environment artist Nick Duguid.

And yes, the revamped bridge does have carpet.

2:03 nearly gave me a heart attack Aaron Voyager so high in the less but when you said the a the biggest relief in my life

When I was growing up, the Enterprise-D bridge was the definitive command center.  Cozy yet functional, warm and inviting yet efficient and formal.  Seeing it recreated with such loving care in Picard Season 3 brought back a lot of warm, fuzzy memories. 🖖😊👍

It’s worth mentioning since the Enterprise-F is brought up, that the original Odyssey Class bridge from Star Trek Online, is a really unique design. That was both distinct from and yet clearly evolved from the TNG bridges. It was 2 stories tall. The upper deck was the classic bridge layout with Captains Chair and Helm. The view screen is massive. Like an IMAX. And 2 curving staircases go down in front of the helm stations to the lower deck which has Science and Specialist Stations. With more than a touch of a modern CiC suite. It’s neat to walk around in in game.

Take a drink every time Seán says "Herman Zimmerman". 😄

I like Voyager's bridge the most. It's the perfect size for a vessel of it's size, not too big and not too small. It's more functional than stylized; all main bridge stations have a chair, even ops and tactical (though Tuvok and Kim were usually shown standing instead of sitting), the Engineer has a station on the bridge if their presence is needed on the bridge which full engineering control can be routed to easily. The layout mostly makes sense, for instance Ops having a full station instead of a single small console like on the much larger Galaxy class, helm/flight control having a nice big station front and center, though it is odd that the science station is small and tucked away in a corner since Voyager is a science vessel (likely done for story reasons since there is no science officer on the main cast, other than Janeway herself who was a former science officer who moved to the command track). It has a nice big ISD of the ship always visible behind the captain. The one main issue, as stated in the video, is that the captain's chair is not as prominent as other bridges, with it being off-center and symmetrical with the first officer chair (which was likely a story decision for the show that made it into the design of the bridge, since Voyager was 2 captains and their respective crews working together on one ship, they wanted Janeway and Chakotay to have equal prominence on the bridge).

Voyager is my top pic. I like the Ent D a lot and TOS is very functional, but I feel that Voyager's combines the best elements of them. The Ent-D bridge felt a little lacking in functionality, especially down the sides. Voyager on the other hand, seemed to have designated spots for all the main crew. Security and Ops had their own sections with consoles surrounding them and the helm sat directly up front in the middle. It felt like Tom had control of the ship from there. As for the captain and first officer being side by side, I always liked that. It gave way to some good private conversations between Chakotay and Janeway. In short, it felt the most realistic, and logical, depiction of a bridge to me

Best part of the Protostar/Prodigy bridge is the transparent aluminum canopy! Full view of the stars all around!

Loved the spontaneous holographic displays to illustrate technobabble and as part of the storytelling too.
