Congrats Duffe and good on you for not talking shit like they tried to make you do pretty much every interview looking out for the happiness of your life! 🙏🤙
There was an article in one of the magazines back in like '92 or something about one of the box truck mechanics. He was on team peak and went through their weekly job and had a few photos of the guy riding bmx flatland during his off time. From then in I thought being a pro mechanic would be one of the best jobs a guy could get. .
Steve was timmy s mechanic..i worked at RRP an the rider before timmy had one last chance so the boss tossed me the keys to his box truck i drove all nite to Pontiac an i was a team manager rider coach mechanic an slept all the way home...the rider drove home i waa zunked 75 plus hour week an straight into a Supercross event ok
Hours required divided by the pay, unless your an hourly employee is a losing proposition. Most get no insurance or retirement benefits unless your with Yamaha or Kawasaki. Getting bonus money is a maybe, one injury to your rider and you could be sidelined for an entire season. Love of the game only goes so far, at some point you need to set yourself up for the long haul.
A good rule to follow is that if you have to know someone well to not think they are not a good person...they are not a good person. They can be good, but they choose not to be good.
