For a very long time, Marlon Brando was the greatest actor who had ever lived. He gave us Stanley Kowalski. He gave us Terry Malloy. He gave us Vito Corleone. He won two Academy Awards. He refused one of them. He changed the way movies were made. And in the last decade of his life, he lived almost entirely alone, behind the walls of a house on Mulholland Drive, quietly heartbroken by the two things no father ever recovers from. His son had gone to prison for killing a man. His daughter had taken her own life five years later. In this episode, we tell the fuller story of Marlon Brando — not the actor, but the father. The custody battle that stole his son's childhood. The paradise island where his daughter grew up. The May night in 1990 that ended everything. And the 14 years of grief that followed. If you remember him as Vito Corleone, this one is for you. Share your memory in the comments and subscribe.
