Steve Hillage used to play this false-minor position a lot ! just a third and a 4th

very cool lesson! Thank you!

These are the notes I have been missing. This simple scale mixes with the scales and patterns I commonly use perfectly and has filled a massive hole in my playing. Thank you so much

Simple, yet a great essential for amateur guitarists like me. ❤
Thanks Troy!

Great lesson, got a new subscriber here, looking forward to checking out your other videos. While practicing I kept thinking of the song Two Tickets To Paradise by Eddie Money.

I love the sound pf major pentatonic, there's a video of John Mayer soloing over Promises by Clapton, all done in G major, it's great, thanks for the video

it's pretty cool.. it sounds different. More tools.
I also expanded on the concept...
Over the Ionian.....i simply play maj7 R 3 4 5 maj7
...............Lydian maj7 R 3 #4 5 maj7

Pretty much my whole world. Check out any old live Toy Caldwell stuff with Marshall Tucker in the 70's and 80's, he's the master, and all with his thumb.

Maybe it’s cause I’m self taught but to me that’s still a grouping of the pentatonic. Mix of like first and third position

Do you offer "shapes" of these scales on our Patreon?

@bradhumphreyguitar-gl4ps 9 months ago

If you had to refer to this scale in a theory context, what would it be?

@bullitt773 8 months ago

Hi Troy. I'm a Patreon member and have the "Souther Rock Lines" pdf. Is there somewhere I can hear the entire audio from these licks? In this video the end is kinda cut off. Thank you!

I desperately need an answer to this. How does one go about making their own pentatonic scale? How do you judge which intervals to keep and which to throw out? Why are we playing b7, 1, maj3, 4 and 5 here? What lead to this choice? Is it individual choice or is there theory behind this? Because this is about to blow my mind in terms of possibilities.
