Broad Peak has largely remained in the shadow of neighboring K2. But the mountain has its own long history of first ascents, unfinished climbs, remarkable survivals and expeditions that ended in disaster.

This documentary traces that history from Hermann Buhl, Kurt Diemberger and the Austrian first ascent in 1957 to the Polish expeditions on Broad Peak Central, Maciej Berbeka’s 1988 and 2013 winter attempts, Carlos Carsolio’s solo new route, the Markus Kronthaler recovery, the 2013 Iranian expedition, Kim Hong-bin’s final climb and the July 2026 avalanche that killed ten climbers, including Nirmal Purja.
