Gnosticism means to seek God look inward. This takes the preacher out of the equation as the middle man. No wonder the church hates Gnosticism. It's bad for their business model.

I love when new lore helps spice up the og series

As a Buddhist, I find Christian gnosticism quite similar with our beliefs to some degre. This is really interesting.

The main idea I get from Gnosticism is the idea of "the Divine spark" that exists within all people but is hidden and suppressed. The spark seeks unity with the All, higher consciousness, and it exists within and without. It is not a product of faith, but of spiritual practice.

Gnostics: Sophia, can we ascend to the Pleroma to see God?
Sophia: You already have a god in your world
God in our world: Yaldabaoth

Man, Japanese creators really loved Christian mysticism in 90-s. Xenogears (Big one), Final Fantasy 7, Neon Genesis Evangelion...

Who gnows?

Genosticim lore goes hard ngl

I'm listening to this again!  A real person speaking! Hallelujah!

"Everything is within us. We do not need to get any new experience we just have to get rid of our illusions, We are already THAT."

As a lifelong Christian, I have “converted” into Gnosticism. Every missing links and unanswered questions I have about Christianity are all answered in Gnosticism. And in a world full of sin and corruption, it only makes sense that the false narrative won out against the true narrative. Now we have churches literally getting money and being a de facto multinational company, like seriously?

No wonder they oppressed the Gnostics because the Gnostics refused to be corrupted by worldly desires and materialism. And just like the life of Jesus, the oppressed and silenced are often in the right! Only the Gnostics truly follow the teachings of Jesus, they don’t go around wearing a wizard adornment with a gold stick and live in a luxurious palace, they write and practice in silence and in private groups.

Didn't even realize 40 minutes had passed by, very well put together video !

I read the entire old testament in high school and thought to myself "This doesn't make sense. How can this truly be the God that everyone talks about". Since then, I've read the Kybalion and most of the corpus hermeticum looking for answers, but after finding this video, things are actually starting to make sense. I've ordered a translation of the nag hammadi yesterday and can't wait to learn more. I feel like a huge hole is starting to get filled and my questions are finally starting to get answered. Thank you for making this video, and I thank the all for taking me down this amazing journey.

I used to help out at a local funeral home after I got out of the military and I went to an Egyptian Gnostic funeral service and at first I was really aware that I was the only white person, but they offered me food, took my phone number, talked to me after the service, wanted me to attend their church, and were overall the nicest human beings I've met to this day. While I'm a Christian and didn't end up attending, their kindness has lasted in my heart ever since. Mad respect for explaining their religion better than any other video I've found! Human cultures and religions are so interesting to learn about, especially hidden gems like gnosticism!

I have often heard the term 'Gnostic' thrown around in my adult life, and having been raised Christian, the incredibly little I thought I knew seemed too weird to be understood. Enter a band called Meshuggah, and one of my favourite songs by them is called 'Demiurge'. After hundreds of listens, I recently thought to do a bit of an exploration of what it might be referring to. I'm only sad that I didn't do it sooner. My mind is absolutely blown. Thank you for such coherent content for a true novice like myself to perhaps just begin to try and understand all of this. Truly excellent starting point.

I sort of had an epiphany…I never realized how the early Bishops’, Cardinals’ Popes’ robes look remarkably similar to the chief priests and Pharisees.  Same job, different company…

The Sethian breakdown of reality is SO similar to Hindu Vedanta. Even assigning the male gender to characterize the "Ultimate Oneness" and the female gender to "the Ultimate Original Thought", which in Sanskrit is called Brahman, or Purusha (male) and Prakriti (female), or God and Goddess. It is all within the Ultimate One and never (really) separate.
I'm so grateful you took the time to teach us this... thank you. It's the best overview of Gnosticism I've ever seen so far.😍

Me:has a final tomorrow
Also me: hmm I need to watch this 40 minute video by let's talk religion
