I miss the 90’s and early 2000’s cars like this. They were slow by today’s standards but felt SO FAST! They were an analog, tactile and visceral experience. Today’s cars a too fast to be enjoyed but you could enjoy 95% of what these cars offered on a drive to the shops.

Your becoming an Audi man Joe, good lad 😂

that quality of the build overall but especially the interior... something we're never gonna experience again.

I remember the advert on a billboard at the time. Quote: My other car's a Porsche but today I'm in a hurry 😂

I used to work on these in the 90’s as an Audi master tech, had a S2 coupe at the time (went on to have 5 S2’s, last one was 800bhp!) loved them. One of my customers (a farmer) had a red one, with red Alcantara seat and door panels….  I used to pass his farm on my FZR1000, and would occasionally have a play (within the speed limits and totally sensible)… fair play he could pedal, and had no care for a expensive near new RS2 at the time, had to be on my game if he saw me!

Dream car and one I could have owned but never happened, it’s a regret that I didn’t add one to my garage especially with the prices where they are.

Built proof engine and driveline, can handle lots more power without upgrading internals and still remain driveable and reliable.

The OG sleeper wagon! I remember my dad’s mate picking us up in a brand new one of these when I was 9. It was so fast it made me cry! 😂 It was totally insane for the nineties!

And this is why we love 90’s and 00’s performance cars. Maybe technically inferior to modern metal but the engagement and connection!! Joe - your face says it all!!!! Old is gold!!

What an absolutely stunning car for its time!

I hit like on this video before watching it

I went to lake Balaton in Hungary in the summer of 1994 in my M5 E34 when I met a guy in a new RS2 on the street. We had an amazing time racing through the Hungarian countryside. I won.

Pure analogue driving at it's best. You are a very fortunate man indeed to experience that car and thankyou for for sharing it with us all :goodvibes:

Love the sound of 5 pot engines. :)

Thanks for this Joe - never commented before. My dad bought an RS2 from new in 1994 in Ragusa Green, it is always the car I picture him in. I remember the turbo lag and boost so well on the school run…. Always made an excellent start and finish to the day! He died a couple of years ago and he started my obsession with fast Audi estates. He sold it eventually for a B7 RS4 which I then took over and now also have a B9 RS4 but nothing will ever feel like the original RS2. Have been trying desperately to find his old car to buy but looks like it is off the road which makes me sad. This video made my day thinking of him so thank you!

My mate had one new and I was lucky enough to go for ride with him , I have to say I  remember thinking it was the fastest car I'd ever been in , was very rare in south Wales.  I went on to have an 86 ur quattro in panther black which I absolutely loved

One of the best cars I’ve ever owned

I remember us pouring over all the magazine articles on this beast!!

It's funny you mentioned the same feeling you get riding a motorbike... your delivery was the same. Very chill 😎 nice one, Joe.

Also, this video deserves way more views!

A great car : 200bhp was considered a large amount of power in the early 90's, and 300+bhp seemed a crazy amount for a family estate car.

I see a rs2 I hit like
