Story #1: Yeah no I think the DM is just using the little power he has to control people.

A stranger demanding you drink something they mixed themselves is crossing the line all by itself. Especially if you didn't watch them mix it.

For the racism story, there's a VERY good chance that the white guy playing the half-orc has never experienced or even encountered racism in his real life. So it's no wonder to me that he had a very ignorant solution to try and get out of being racially profiled. The real question is if this experience will actually change the guy's worldview outside of the game or if he's just gonna chalk it up to the DM being "unreasonable" in his mind.

Story 1:  Late.  If I were that DM, I would be celebrating that the player still wanted to come play after dealing with that traffic!  I used to play TTRPGs.  There were some games I couldn’t make, and had other players play my character for that session.  And they knew me and my character well enough that it was hard to remember that I wasn’t the one that did that totally-in-character move that day!  If the player was consistently late, some sort of penalty might be required, in order to see if they revise their behavior.  This was a DM punishing a player for something someone else in an entirely separate group did, without any warning, and it sounds life for no real reason since the quest was still in the set-up stages.  It was just a power play on the DMs part, and I would have a very hard time going back to that game.  Maybe if we were close friends before that, and could talk out the situation, but without that, my trust would be broken.

Fantasy Racism story:
So I wasn't the DM but a player for this. The party was myself as a tiefling warlock, a goblin bard, and a dragonborn paladin.

When the paladin used his divine sense and saw the dark aura around my character (in character they didn't know that my infernal patron was actually possessing me to take my body upon my death), the paladin just went, "eh, he's a tiefling, they do that."

Anime Post:  Imagine spending a lot of time putting together your own DND session however you want it and then someone calls you a "PDF Anime Gooner."  And the worst part is that I wouldn't be surprised if we run into an internet post later from said problem player

We cryogenically froze a character when after the player did weeks of "no, actually I can't do tonight, I had something come up" and so we asked if he wanted us to continue without him and he said yes. So we had a cult give him the Han Solo treatment

Story 6:  Violent response.  Ok… I thought that this player was being a bit crazy… but they are 7.  Ok, that checks out!

Man that guy going off about it being anime is hilarious.
Getting ejected from the chat after yelling about Discord Mods is extra funny.

Fantasy racism: Most of the games I'm in will have a little bit of the usual stuff sprinkled in, like elves looking down on half-elves, humans being afraid of tieflings, and everyone being suspicious of drow. It can make for interesting roleplay. For example, in one beloved long-term campaign, my half-elf character followed a goddess who was an enemy of Lolth, and one of our party members was a drow. My character was too polite to be outright hostile, but I played them as being cold and suspicious towards the drow character until our characters had a conversation and the drow revealed that he didn't follow Lolth anymore, he actually now followed Eilistraee (a goddess who works against Lolth). After that, our characters started getting along better. It made their friendship more meaningful, since that friendship represented some real growth for my character as they overcame their biases and assumptions about drow. So, while some people find the fantasy racism cringe, I think it lets parties explore conflicts and what it takes to overcome those problems

Story 1: Yeah, that's some middle manager bs right there. "I'm having issues with these other guys, so I'm going to punish you guys and implement arbitrary rules to keep you under control. If you don't like it, leave! Wait!! Where are you going?! What do you mean you quit?!? You can't quit!! You just need to follow my stupid rules! Come back!! Please! Coooome Baaaaack!!"
Edit to add: Were I the Half-Ork, I would have gotten a floor length cloak with a deep hood and a pair of soft leather gloves. Make sure you're wearing clothes that cover your skin, keep the hood up and the gloves on at all times, and you'll still garner attention, but it'll be because you're mysterious, not because of your race.

That last story made me think "holy shit run man that girl is crazy" and then the twist at the end that she was seven was fucking gold. I cackled so hard. Great writing from OP and great delivery from Oz. 100/10

“This isn’t that crazy, but…”

> Proceeds to post the most absolutely unhinged interaction

Bpd girl here. Control issues are common. The DM needs therapy, some good DBT/CBT therapy can work wonders for personality disorders but you need to be open to it. You can't medicate a personality disorder, you need to be self aware and willing to work on it. Unfortunately many with BPD don't see themselves as having an issue and adopt a me vs  the world mentality until they come to some self awareness or deep dive into something worse.

29:16 Plot twist of the century

I’m sorry but the shopping montage post is killing me lmaooo. (I asked my dm for period accurate xenophobia and misogyny because I’m a black woman and this is my power fantasy, and that’s fun and rad to me, I think these are themes to be explored in a setting.) but a white dude thinking a PINK POLO SHIRT and GLASSES solve racism is absolutely obliterating me I’m crying 😂

story 2: this sounds like the dm wanted to do a "mature" d&d campaign but they were too embarrassed to admit that was the direction he wanted to take. the alcoholic potions and the question about the genders of the player characters seemed to indicate that was the direction he wanted to go

Here's my tin foil hat theory about the second story. What if the DM roofied those drinks? It's entirely possible...

IVE BEEN WAITING FOR RPG HORROR STORIES FOR SO LONG THANK YOU KING OZ

With the post-first story discussion, there is legitimately two examples of when I think killing a character of a player not currently at the table is fine.
1) they've excused themself to the bathroom or outside during combat, and let someone else roll for them on incoming damage
2) it's something brought up outside the game first, like "I'm not gonna be able to make it for ages, I'd rather have my character killed off and I'll make a new one when I'll be able to make it again, than have the character just be a dead weight for no reason"

That's it, that's the only kinds of situation I can see for killing a character of a player not sitting at the table.
