Hello and welcome to Loading Gauge Episode Five. In this episode, I'll be showing you some of the detailing and weathering I've been doing to my Accurascale Class 37s. This time it's 37 051, one of Motherwell's Metals allocated machines. Some useful hints and tips, and I mention all the paints and thinners I use. We will also see the finished loco running on the layout.

Instead of buying those paint mixing pots, I use Knorr Stockpot containers or similar that would normally be put in the recycling bin. They’ve got a flat bottom, paint is easy to pour and clean out

Hallöchen Lucy
Es war wieder einmal sehr informativ und gut erklärt.
Da schaue ich gerne wieder einmal vorbei.
Viele Grüße Mario

Hmm, I've seemed to have missed this video, Lucy. Another smashing weathering job on this Class 37 Tractor. It reminds me of your OBA weathering project and the 37 looks an amazing piece of workwomanship, your a credit to the females in this hobby of ours.

I tend to use a saucer rather than a bowl to soak transfers. Easier to get tool under transfer or "beach" the transfer on the shallow sides.

Im gonna try this process out on the new Hornby Police Class 37!!!! Got to be done eh! If i balls it up I’ll be nicked right away!! LOL

i used to use Humbrol dark earth to whether 1/50 scale construction models, I used to load the brush with paint & paint a poece of cardboard to remove 95% of the paint then with the access that's left on the brush, run it fairly fast over the model where dirt & grime would be on the rea machine,

Your detailing skills and nimble fingers are formidable.

Does it affect the warranty if you weather it.

Great work and a very realistic end result.
May I ask where you got that loco cradle from? Looks like a good piece of kit especially when when working on the sides of the locos.

Hi Lucy. I enjoyed the vid, but with a weathering modification for me to try, I really need static views of before AND after to judge whether to do it or not. Unfortunately, your vid did not give me a static view of the loco afterwards. It only gave a moving view which did not allow me to evaluate how effective the weathering was. Sorry 🙂

Excellent Farkham work :) bit of a side note Teessiders used to call Cargo Fleet (it was a village but a steel works swallowed it) Chicago Fleet, where my layout got its name.
