Separating from each other in the dark night is a really dumb idea.

Going into strange woods at night, is pure foolishness.

One year during my hunt, I tripped along a steep trail & fell into a gully while cradling my $1500 rifle & sacrificing my ribcage.
I broke a rib. It hurt so much that I had to go home right away.
I could hardly move my left arm. The clinic gave me a chest wrap & the rib healed in 3 weeks.

I live in northwest British Columbia Canada and joined S.A.R.  To pass the course we had a 24 hour exam. We were left on a mountain middle of February   No tent no sleeping bag , .. no nothing except the supplies in our back pack that  carried  … to pass the course we had to survive out there w very little  .. we made a little bed out of spruce branches to stay off the cold  ground , we made fire to keep warm , worse night of my life to be sure, I nearly quit at about 4:30 am but somehow stuck it out .. if theses ppl are avid hikers, how are they not able to last one night?   By all means take the risk, but geezes he’ll be prepared !!!

Bad sprains of ankles swell up immediately & instantly. They are so painful that you cannot even step on your sprained foot to limp back out of the forest wilderness.
They would need to huddle together thru the night to keep warm until daylight then the healthy girl hike out & get help !!

No way to call for help:
This is a common problem that can only be solved by having a satellite phone & extra battery !!
I've rented these on extreme backpack hunting trips:
The satellite phone becomes the most critical item,
Next the magnetic compass,
Next the map or GPS,
Next the water filter,
Next then dual water containers filled,
Next the machete,
Next the folded tote day pack.
Max distance = 1/2 day's hike from the jeep camp.
To pack out each quarter of the meat & ice it then takes 1 day per section:
Hindquarters,
Forequarter,
Neck & head & ribs.
And lots of water & powdered electrolyte at the jeep, plus trail food.

First time here.  Really great content! ❤

The heat of summer is a really dumb time for desert hikes.
Go north in summer.
Go south & west in winter.

Stupidity is the operative Word here. Sorry it cost them their lives but they were idiotic.

JUST STAY PUT.   DON'T MOVE!!!!

As a mail lady, this year was extremely hot, so hot that my bladder felt full and when I went to the restroom it was only a tinkle because my clothes felt like I had jumped in a pool! I sweated all my fluids out and I’d drank almost a gallon of water smh so now I have a liter of water at night added to the gallon I drink during the day

Thank you!

Unbelievable

Ive been in3 or 4 total blackout nights, where you literally  "couldnt see your hand in front of your face".

For any activity in the dark you need 3 lights per person:
1 main light &
2 backup lights !!
These unfortunate inexperienced ladies had only 1 between the two of them:
Pure foolishness !!

What an appropriate ending for the know it all disrespectful rude people who don't follow safety protocols call the wambulance

I'm having a hard time feeling sympathy for these young women. WTH were they thinking????

Water & electrolyte powder is the most important thing anywhere in daytime not just Ariz.
Lights are the most important thing in nighttime or darkness (caves, mines, tunnels, shipwrecks, etc.)

Thankyou,  not noticed but it has sprung to 5.13am...Aghhhhh..⚘️💜🖤

I think it's a good thing even if you're not a smoker to carry a lighter on you , just in case you need to start a signal fire
