A great song. The story is so specific. Joni on a Paris trip with founder of Asylum records, and later Dreamworks, David Geffen, and Robbie Robertson (from The Band) and his wife. But she observes the effect of the vacation on her friend, David. She writes about it minute detail, but it becomes relatable and almost universal. Amazing. And the music is so unique. Just wonderful. One of my favorites of hers. Thanks.
She writes the music, sings, plays the instruments, arranges, and does the cover art for her albums. Gorgeous, stage presence etc. NO ONE has ever been more the complete package. NO ONE.
Larry Carlton and the legendary Jose Feliciano on guitars. Jose usually plays a Nylon acoustic guitar, he's on electric here. Song is about music mogul David Geffen.
Joni painted every one of her album covers and continued to paint long after she recorded. I was lucky enough to meet her in an art gallery in the 80's. She is amazing at art, all forms. Enjoy your journey.
Audiophiles in the 70's used this album as a reference when evaluating stereo equipment. I had an AR teak turntable, bi-amped Acoustic Research AR -9 LS speakers a Sony CD-302 CD player and a Denon cassette recorder. and Senheiser? headphones. I sold all of it on eBay for more than I paid for them. Now nothing has any worth because of Chinese copyright infringements. Collect back Royalties and punitive damages! Uncle Bob Rules!
