She plays the dulcimer an old folk instrument.

That is how people listened to music back in the day. They respected the performer and each other. They didn't want to interrupt the music with their yelling and did not want to stand up in front of someone else who was sitting behind them. I miss those days.

As far as female singer-songwriters go, you won't find any more talented than Joni Mitchell. She is the epitome of what an artist is. She's a painter, too, even before she started her music career. Most of her album cover art are paintings by her. Her talent transcends generations, and always will. To me, she's a beauty muse sent from another world to enrich humanity, and is my favorite flower child, along with Donovan. I was a junior in high school in 1970, and feel so fortunate to have grown up with the great music explosion of the 60's and 70's that changed the world!

Absolute Iconic LEGEND, playing the dulcimer and reminding us how powerful Folk Music is. Anyone who knows music at all loves Joni. Absolute Queen. We'll never hear someone like her again, and that is sad. Timeless.

This is from her magnificent album Blue (1971). Since you enjoyed this one so much, I'm sure you will love the whole of that album.

You are listening to one of the greatest musicians of all time....songwriter, singer, guitar, piano, dulcimer player, artist, all perfectly. Her style evolved over her very long and prolific career which led her to becoming an amazing jazz musician. More than just legendary.

She is legendary. He name is mentioned in so many other artists songs, I've lost count. She wasn't the biggest seller of all time, but her style is one where once you have heard it, you never forget. Big yellow taxi is her iconic song.
