That was one of the better representations i have seen of the gurnos having been born here. There is the good bad and ugly. If you speak to people who dont try and better them self's and stand around the streets all day, you will see the bad and ugly. But there is a whole other side of hard-working people who try and better themselves and they families generationsof hard workers, there have been so many fundraiser and charity events people pulling together. Businesses self-employed supporting to help in hard times. Everywhere is bad if you look close enough.

I was born in the gurnos and spent all my childhood growing up there with family from both my mother and father’s side being from there. I’ve lived out of Merthyr for the past 9 years but watching this has made me remember how much I love our little town. Looking forward to the next part & the other areas you’re going to cover . Keep up the good work Cullan and making our town shine in the best light as much as possible ! 💘

Great video was that. I, for many years, have had a vision of both Gurnos and the Penrhys Estate in the Rhondda as being possibly the two most estates in Wales to avoid. Appears a tidy clean estate. I was expecting boarded up properties. Thanks for highlighting Gurnos. That guy on 01:01 deserves credit for the good deed he did for the old gentlemen.

54 mins , God bless you ❤ pal , he just wants the best for his kid.  100% respect ❤

When I lived there in the 80s, 90s, he would have got heart checked straight away being a stranger with a camera until they heard the Cardiff accent. I left to get away from my heroin addiction. I've been clean since 1999.

Go on Lloyd what a brilliant young man very talented !!!

Well done mate! Merthyr is a brilliant place to live in but like everywhere has its ups and downs. You should also go and film the parks in Merthyr, the historic sites, the surrounding mountains. Absolutely beautiful!

with the ambulance waiting times in wales being so long gurnos looks the perfect place to live a 5 minute walk to the hospital.

Mate you need to interview people that have lived in the Gurnos in the 80's and 90's and have actually moved from there and done well from themselves like myself, I still live in Merthyr but I moved away from the Gurnos in 2004...i'm 45 now and still proud of my roots but people do manage to get out and make a decent life for themselves .

Keep up the good content 👏

Omg the lil man talking about his AdHd was amazing, with total respect to him and his parents ❤

I liked that rap. Good videos these. Once these videos are done you should run this series back every 7 years to see how things change over time. Imagine 4 of this series over the next 25 years. End up knowing whole generations of families in these places and following the evolution of change through South Wales like nobody else has done anywhere. I've spent time in Gurnos too. I like it there. Same as everywhere else in the Valleys, if you're a fool they'll treat you like a fool, if you're cool, the people will respect you.

My heart goes out to Lloyd he’s a good boy

As a Merthyr gyal I think the gurnos is a little bit unsafe, but on the other hand if your known it’s amazing and I’m proud to be apart of it❤

Paul keep doing what you’re doing bro! That’s real. Respect!

I drive through the estate quite often after visiting Pontsticill my favourite walking route. Seems quite fine and a close community, the parks are beautiful but very few mentions for some reason.  There’s still plenty of proud working class families living there, with a proud heritage

Paul aggett good friend aint seen for a while. Psul certainly turned his life around for the better. A true gent....💙💙

I lived in the Gurnos with my mum and dad who were from Dowlais, I went to pen y dre school my nan and grandfather also lived there and in them days the club was always busy.
